LAS VEGAS--Consumer electronics giant LG focused its attention on the home and living room with a series of home entertainment and appliance announcements.

Chief among them was the pricing and dating of its much-awaited 55-inch OLED TV, which first debuted at last year's CES, though was delayed. The company today said it would begin selling in the U.S. in March for about $12,000. It also promised two new sizes of its 4K resolution television sets, 65-inch and 55-inch versions to join the 84" model.

LAS VEGAS -- LG's flagship OLED television set will arrive in the U.S. this March, the company announced here today.

The model will cost "about" $12,000 LG's U.S. marketing chief James Fishler said at the company's press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show.

The 55-inch TV set design first debuted at last year's CES and won CNET's highest honor, but was delayed, due to what was rumored to be issues manufacturing the set.

If you're bummed that you can't make it to Nokia World in Helsinki this year, don't fret -- the mobile company will be holding another event here in the United States on the very same day.

In partnership with Microsoft, Nokia will host a press conference on September 5 at 9:30 a.m. in New York.

Though no details have been released, we anticipate that whatever is going to be said in Helsinki will also be announced in the Big Apple.

Back in June, Windows Phone 8 was unveiled to developers during the Windows Phone Summit. So it's not a huge leap to suspect that these two upcoming events will pertain to the new OS.

Microsoft's press conference earlier this week reminded us a lot of what Apple has perfected -- the dramatic press conference. However, after the lights went off, we still had plenty of questions about what the new Microsoft Surface tablets were going to cost and when we could buy them. If Microsoft is using the Apple Playbook, they may have skipped a page or two.

Love it or hate it, Apple has all but mastered the art of the press conference. It's not that they use fancy graphics or a laser-light show, it's mostly because they answer a lot of questions and perhaps most importantly, begin selling the product right away. Cashing in on the excitement of a new product and then allowing the public to buy it immediately is something no other company really does, so it'll be interesting to see if the Surface hype is still churning once it's finally ready to be sold. … Read more

LOS ANGELES--If you thought Microsoft's motion-sensing controllerless technology Kinect was going to take a back seat this year, you were wrong. In the minutes leading up to the press conference's start, I first noticed a trio of Kinect sensors slyly facing the stage. It would be a telling premonition of what was in store for the world's fastest-selling electronic gadget.

But while Kinect has garnered more groans than praise in recent months, Microsoft's press conference demonstrated somewhat of a maturation for the motion-control initiative. LAS VEGAS--In a joint CES press conference today, Ford Motor and NPR announced that streaming news is coming "straight to the dashboard."

NPR's new app will work with Ford's in-car control system, Sync AppLink, even those without a touch-screen interface, and is intended to be less distracting to the driver as it's based on voice command. Users can set favorite stations and programs in the app to be browsed later using the car's steering wheel controls. Apps are available immediately in the Android Market and iTunes App Store.

Fujifilm took to the stage at CES to unveil its X-Pro1, a mirrorless camera that will set you back an estimated $1,700 for the body alone.

Lenses--and there will initially be three of them, though no zooms--will go for about $650 apiece, the company said. The camera and initial lenses are due in February, with pricing to be firmed up in late January.

Zoom lenses won't appear until 2013. At its press conference here, the company said it's aiming the camera at wedding and portrait photographers.

LAS VEGAS--Remember when I said that CES 2012 would be a veritable car show?

Well, it looks like I was right, because one of the first press conferences of the big show was held tonight by none other than General Motors for its OnStar telematics and vehicle concierge service. OnStar announced that it is opening its service to third-party developers--with the car-sharing service RelayRides the first of them.
