Study: What motivates people to exercise? Money

A new study out of Stanford University and the University of Michigan suggests that some people appear more motivated by money than their own health.

Researchers followed a group of people insured by Blue Care Network, which -- rather controversially -- developed an incentives program that allowed its obese members to choose between paying as much as 20 percent more for health insurance or exercising. In real dollars, that added up to as much as $2,000 extra a year. (Those unable to walk due to medical reasons were exempt with a doc's note.)

Path plots subscription service for 2nd quarter

Path, the social network designed to be more personal than Facebook, will be launching a subscription service in the second quarter of this year.

Path co-founder and Chief Executive Dave Morin told CNET that a premium paid version is the next step for monetizing the young app, but he did not reveal what features users would paying for in a subscription, or how much it would cost.

Evernote Premium comes to Deutsche Telekom customers

Evernote Premium, the paid service from the productivity app maker, is coming to all of Deutsche Telekom's customers in Germany.

Evernote announced the deal today, saying that all of Deutsche Telekom's nearly 60 million customers will receive a one-year Evernote Premium subscription. Evernote has signed similar deals with a host of other international carriers, including NTT Docomo in Japan and Orange in France. The company ostensibly wants to be a value-add for service providers, helping it to work its way into more devices.
