Sony's PlayStation Vita portable has price tags that can't quite get in line.

The 3G-connected model, which originally launched for $299.99, is currently on sale at several Sony retail stores around the country for $199.97, gaming blog Joystiq reported last night. The blog called a host of Sony stores around the country, and a large majority were selling them at that discounted rate.

Sony: No price cut for PlayStation Vita in U.S. -- report

Sony's portable PlayStation Vita will not get a price cut in the U.S., despite hopes for such a move.

Speaking to reporters today, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida said that no price drop is coming for the Vita in the U.S., according to Polygon, which was in attendance at that discussion. Yoshida reportedly told those at the interview that Sony's recently announced decision to cut the price of the Vita in Japan had nothing to do with sales and everything to do with exchange rates.

Sony mum on PlayStation Vita price drops for U.S., Europe

Sony breathed new life into its PlayStation Vita portable alongside the introduction of the PlayStation 4 today.

The gist of the news: The Vita can be used as a full screen and controller for your PS4, similar to what Nintendo's done with the Wii U. The idea is that you can continue to play a game on the PS4 through your Vita, even if someone needs to use the TV for something else. Sony trims price of PlayStation Vita, adds new color

With a little less than 48 hours to go before the world gets a glimpse at the PlayStation 4, there's some news for the PS Vita coming out of Japan today.

Sony announced that the company lowered and equalized the price point for the Wi-Fi and 3G/Wi-Fi-versions of the PS Vita to 19,980 yen ($212) from 24,980 yen ($265) and 29,980 yen ($319), respectively. Sony's Hirai to Nvidia: Handheld gaming is 'not an easy business'

Sony Chief Executive Kazuo Hirai has a warning for Nvidia as that company eyes the gaming space.

"It's not an easy business to get into," Hirai told The Wall Street Journal in an interview published yesterday.
