The Dyson DC40 Origin is the least expensive model in the Dyson line of upright vacuums. It's a sleek-looking vacuum with all of the attributes you expect from a Dyson product such as the ball technology and bright coloring, a yellow-orange in the case of the DC40. The DC40 performed well enough, but we have some concerns about its overall durability, concerns you shouldn't have with a $399 vacuum.
A funny thing happened while I was lugging our most recent 17-inch PC gaming monster laptop off my desk. My replacement options were no longer limited to big, bulky 17- and 18-inch desktop replacement laptops. Instead, a new breed of 13- and 14-inch laptops with serious gaming cred is making waves, proving that you don't need a massive footprint to fit in the latest CPU and GPU parts.
Each of these semi-portable gaming laptop was reviewed in a configuration that included a quad-core CPU from Intel's fourth-generation Core i7 line, and a graphics card from Nvidia's current … Read more
For now, it's probably not a good idea to check into SimCity if you're visiting with a Mac computer. Following a similar disastrous launch seen with its PC counterpart earlier this year, SimCity for Mac, which launched Thursday, has sent numerous Apple computer users scrambling to figure out why their game isn't working.
A forum post started by frustrated SimCity Mac users on an Electronic Arts discussion board has pages and pages of posts, indicating that the problem could be widespread.
A Maxis representative, however, told CNET that "there are a small number of players who have encountered issues with SimCity for Mac. Our live team is working individually with our players to resolve their issues and get them into the game as quickly as possible."… Read more
Need something fun to do this weekend? Electronic Arts' Humble Bundle just got even sweeter with the addition of two extra games.
In case you missed it, Electronic Arts has been offering a collection of 8 great computer video games for a little over $5 (or more, if you're feeling generous), with all proceeds going to charity. Now the number of games is up to 10.

Electronic Arts is launching a new initiative for gamers to get back money on titles they don't like.
The big-time game publisher has launched what it calls the Origin Great Game Guarantee. The offer allows gamers to receive a full refund on full-game downloads to PCs or Macs through its digital-delivery service, Origin.
"If something doesn't work out -- you aren't riveted by the storyline, or sucked in by the action, or even just if the game doesn't play well with your video card -- we've got your back," EA wrote in a … Read more
Gamers have a big opportunity through August 28. The Humble Origin Bundle lets you grab up to eight top-tier Electronic Arts games -- including Dead Space, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space 3, Medal of Honor, Battlefield 3, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, and The Sims 3 Starter Pack -- at whatever price you want (starting at $1). A great bonus? All proceeds go to charity.
One fact worth noting: To access popular games such as Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3, donors will need to contribute at least $4.65, which is a moving average of all contributions (that number may change as donations fluctuate). Regardless, that's a heck of a deal for either game, and especially the bundle itself, which would cost about $215 if purchased altogether.… Read more

Origin PC is one of the few boutique PC makers we've come to count on for solid, if expensive, gaming systems over the past few years. But those 15- and 17-inch models have been huge, even for midsize and desktop replacement systems, with big, bulky bodies that required a padded backpack to carry around even semicomfortably. Now the company has announced a rare 13-inch gaming laptop, called the Eon13-S, which promises great gaming in a much more portable package.
