HTC has announced a new and improved One X.

Dubbed the One X+, the device is basically a refreshed version of the same One X HTC is already selling. The handset comes with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and nixes the One X's 1.5GHz quad-core processor available in the global version for a 1.7GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 chip. The One X+ has doubled its storage to 64GB, and according to HTC, its LTE version is "up to 67 percent faster" than its predecessor, through it's not clear how it arrived at that figure.… Read more

HTC plans to update its One X, One S, and One XL smartphones with Android 4.1, also known as Jelly Bean, the company confirmed to Engadget today.

HTC confirmed the upgrade plans, but unfortunately didn't provide any specific detail on timing to CNET.

The company also said the updates would come to versions sold by AT&T, T-Mobile, and Rogers.

An update page posted by Australian mobile carrier Telstra points to an Android 4.1 'Jelly Bean' update in progress for both phones. The carrier says that HTC is preparing the update but has yet to confirm a date in which it will be sent to Telstra for testing.

BriefMobile obtained details of a handset with the code name of Ville C, which appears to be a cheaper, albeit lower-powered HTC One S.

Hardware details are nearly identical to the One S and include a 4.3 qHD AMOLED display, 16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, and a 8-megapixel camera. Qualcomm is proving that a phone doesn't have to be quad-core to be fast.

"Scoring 25 percent higher than its older siblings...in [central processing unit] performance benchmarks, shows Qualcomm has delivered on its promise for higher performance CPU," Jim Mielke, vice president of engineering at ABI Research, said in a note today, referring to the HTC One S.
