Free the Mouse with your logic skills

Mouse Trap is an addictive puzzle game that tests your logic skills as you help a trapped mouse find his way through a thoroughly obstructed exit. Your job is to move the obstructing blocks either vertically or horizontally (never both) in order to clear a lane for the trapped rodent. As you progress through the game's hundreds of levels, the configurations of blocks get increasingly complex, requiring additional brain power to clear them.

Mouse Trap is a classic puzzle game similar to other hits like Unblock Me and Traffic Jam. But what sets this game apart is that there … Read more

At Maker Faire, giant mousetrap crushes a taxi

QUEENS, N.Y.--They did it, mostly: The artists and engineers who dreamed up, built, and now operate a large-scale version of the classic board game Mousetrap took center stage at this weekend's World Maker Faire at the New York Hall of Science, with the aim of flattening a New York taxi with a two-ton safe through a series of deployments of their massive Rube Goldberg machine. Standing guard were the Lifesize Mousetrap operators--a half dozen clowns, a few women in tasteful burlesque costumes with mouse ears and tails, and a man in a gorilla suit.

To build a deadlier mousetrap: Where high-tech meets low-tech

If you thought that the issue of whether a patent covered the use of a microprocessor could only concern the computer or semiconductor industry, think again. High tech has extended its reach to zapping rats (literally).

Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door. Such were the aspirations of Bob Noe, the founder of Agrizap--maker of the patented Rat Zapper, a trap for dispatching pests through electrocution. Agrizap's Rat Zapper, which is about the size of a shoebox, is powered by four AA batteries, and is sold online for about $40 at RatZapper.com.

The slightly larger Rat Zapper Ultra uses D-cell batteries which, according to the Website, enables it to kill "even bigger, badder rats and mice." In the event of serious infestation, or for those with an overdeveloped desire to integrate their equipment, Agrizap also offers the ultimate high-tech equipment including its Battle Station command post and radio-monitoring equipment for use with its traps.… Read more

Digital mousetrap will text you when it's done

Someone was bound to say it, so it might as well be us: A better mousetrap really has been built.

U.K.-based Rentokil is making the bold claim that it's invented "the smartest and most humane mousetrap ever"--and for good reason. This is no low-tech Tom and Jerry device, Tech Digest says, but a sophisticated digital system that kills the offending rodents in 45 seconds using infrared beams, carbon dioxide and toxic gas. And the "Rodent Activated Detention and Riddance Unit" (RADAR) isn't done yet: It will then send a text message … Read more
