GameGain Review

If your computer can't keep up with your games, it may be time to give it a boost. For a small fee, this program wants to change a few settings on your computer to make things run faster. Sadly, the GameGain trial version doesn't make good on its promises; you won't notice any performance upgrade in any of your favorite games.

The program offers a free trial that lasts for 29 days, while the full version costs $12.99. You can't unlock GameGain's "fastest" setting" without paying up, though. The program occasionally … Read more

Manage all startup operations with EasyBCD

A freeware package for noncommercial use, EasyBCD is designed to help manage and control startup operations. It works with the later Windows operating systems, including Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, both 32-bit and 64-bit. It also works with Linux and Mac systems.

Buttons on the left side of the window are for tasks such as system backup, editing the boot menu, and general settings. In addition to its main … Read more

In the deal announced today (PDF), Microsoft, which owns Bing and powers ads that run in the United States on Yahoo, blocked all future advertising associated with the 125 scams identified by SIGTARP.

Track file changes with fseventer and DaemonFS

There are many times when in troubleshooting your Mac, it is useful to see what files on the system are being modified. For instance, if you are having difficulty with some system preferences and know what preference files are being used to store the system settings, you can further troubleshoot the problem by manually editing the files or removing them. The problem with doing this is that sometimes you can't easily find the files that are being modified.

Though you can use the Finder to search for and sort files by modification date, this is only useful for visible … Read more

Top Gear gets ready for Britcar racing

Over this past weekend (October 2-4) the Silverstone raceway hosted the Britcar 500 race, a 6 hour race featuring European super sports cars slugging it out endurance style. I've tried to be patient and unfortunately I've found scant video worthy of this event to post up on this blog. However, in the process of looking for video for the Britcar 500 I stumbled upon this great clip about preparing a street car for a 24 hour Britcar endurance race, courtesy of those blokes on BBC's Top Gear.

Top Gear is an Emmy award-winning show produced in Britain … Read more
