HTC makes no promises for new tablets

HTC doesn't plan on announcing a new Android-based tablet for the United States anytime soon, according to statements directly from the Taiwanese company.

Calling its previous efforts (HTC Flyer, Evo View 4G, and HTC Jetstream) its "first foray", HTC indicates it was pleased with results. In a written statement provided to CNET, Jeff Gordon, HTC's global online communications manager, suggests that the company has not completely ruled out a return to market.

HTC reportedly launching quad-core tablet in February

HTC is hoping a little horsepower will spark some interest in its tablet offering.

The Taiwanese mobile device manufacturer is expected to unveil a quad-core-powered tablet in February at Mobile World Congress, Digitimes reports, citing a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.

HTC declined to comment.

In the same boat as just about everybody else in the mobile industry, HTC hasn't been able to crack the tablet market, with Apple and its iPad being the only real success story. Much like the Xoom, PlayBook, and other tablets, HTC's two offerings so far have failed to draw in consumers. The company … Read more

HTC looking to launch another tablet

HTC plans to give the tablet market another shot.

After unveiling its Flyer and Jetstream devices this year, the company is looking to release another tablet next year, according to Reuters.

Though Reuters said that HTC has released only a single tablet model, the company has actually released two. The HTC Flyer, also known as the HTC Evo View 4G, hit the market in May, while the Jetstream debuted … Read more

HTC Jetstream review: Again, why is this so expensive?

Price matters to everyone to some extent. If you're a prospective vendor planning to sell a tablet that, at its cheapest, is $700, you had better offer something uniquely compelling.

Too many tablets are out there vying for consumer attention and, with limited funds, we need a compelling reason to bite. A tablet that simply does the same things other tablets do in a different package just ain't gonna cut it.

It needs a feature or a quality to stand out, like the Sony Tablet S's ability to play Playstation games or the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.… Read more

HTC Jetstream 10.1-inch tablet coming to AT&T Sept. 4 for $700

The long-rumored HTC Puccini tablet is finally landing at AT&T on September 4 as the HTC Jetstream, but prepare yourself for some sticker shock.

The Jetstream will cost $699.99 with a two-year contract, and for the price, you're getting AT&T's first 4G LTE tablet and the carrier's first Android 3.1 Honeycomb device. AT&T's LTE network is expected to go live in five markets this summer, but the tablet is compatible with carrier's HSPA+ network.

The Jetstream also offers a 10.1-inch WXGA HD touch screen, Qualcomm's … Read more

Stream your own video content to iPads with JetStream HD

In a world of cloud-based applications and media, it seems very 20th century that it's been difficult to stream movies and TV shows from collections on our home computers or media servers to mobile devices like iPads and iPhones.

But a new product called JetStream HD is aiming to change that dynamic. Launching at Demo Spring 2011 in Palm Desert, Calif., this week, JetStream HD combines hardware and software to serve up your personal media to an iPad, and in the near future to other devices like iPhones and iPod Touches, and possibly Android tablets.

JetStream HD users who … Read more
