Samsung Intercept with FroYo issues?

If you're a Samsung Intercept owner who has had problems with the Android 2.2 software update, you're not alone. Sprint has announced in its forums that some users have reported the Intercept to be unresponsive after the upgrade. The company is working on a solution, so hopefully we'll get it all sorted out soon.

Virgin Mobile's first Android phone (review)

The Samsung Intercept may be a first for Virgin Mobile, but we hope it's the start of a beautiful relationship between the prepaid carrier (a Sprint subsidiary) and the Android platform.

There's a lot to like about this Android phone, including the Android 2.1 operating system, a combination touch-screen-plus-QWERTY keyboard, and all of Google's tightly integrated apps and services, including turn-by-turn navigation, Google contact and calendar sync, and Gmail with threaded messaging.

Virgin Mobile's Samsung Intercept on sale at Target

The Samsung Intercept, Virgin Mobile's first Android offering in its prepaid lineup, is available at Target stores starting today. Virgin Mobile will roll out the Intercept to customers through other retailers throughout October. In addition, you can nab the $249.99 Intercept from Virgin Mobile's Web site by the middle of the month. Service plans go for $25, $40, and $60.

The Intercept is an entry-level Android smartphone. It features a 3.2-inch WQVG touch-screen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and a 3.2-megapixel camera-plus-camcorder.

Samsung Intercept: Virgin Mobile's Android first

It wasn't long ago we saw the Samsung Intercept hop into Sprint's lineup, and now it's set to do it again with Virgin Mobile. While an entry-level Android device, the smartphone will make a more notable splash as a prepaid handset with Virgin Mobile for the simple reason that the Intercept is the carrier's first Android phone.

Samsung Intercept: Affordable Android for Sprint

If the Samsung Epic 4G is a bit too much for your needs , then let us introduce you to the Samsung Intercept.

Announced on Wednesday for Sprint, the Intercept gives customers a more budget-friendly Android option, coming in at $99.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate. The smartphone features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and, like the Samsung Moment, has a combination of touch-sensitive keys, physical buttons, and an optical trackpad.

U.K. to monitor, store all social-network traffic?

The U.K. government is considering the mass surveillance and retention of all user communications on social-networking sites, including Facebook, MySpace, and Bebo.

Vernon Coaker the U.K. Home Office security minister, on Monday said the EU Data Retention Directive, under which Internet service providers must store communications data for 12 months, does not go far enough. Communications such as those on social-networking sites and via instant-messaging services could also be monitored, he said.
