Sprint releases two Moto iDEN phones

Though Sprint's iDEN network will go to the mobile graveyard in 2013, the carrier today announced two new Motorola handsets that will see the technology through to its end.

Exact specifications are still to come, but the handsets should have all the markings of an iDEN device, including a rugged design and support for the Direct Connect push-to-talk network. Sprint launches rugged Motorola Brute i680

On Monday, Sprint introduced its latest Nextel Direct Connect phone, the Motorola Brute i680. Described as "an extreme phone for extreme conditions," the Brute i680 features a rugged design and meets Military Specification 810F, so it can withstand exposure to dust, shock, vibration, low and high temperatures, low pressure, solar radiation, salt, fog, humidity, and blowing rain.
