Suryl Guardian can restore your suddenly wonky or malfunctioning Windows PC to a previously created stable "environment" with the click of a button. If that sounds a lot like the System Restore tool already built into your copy of Windows, you're right. Suryl Guardian basically does what System Restore does; namely, rolls your system back when something's messed up. So what do you get with Suryl Guardian? Two things: 1) It offers lots more than System Restore, like easy scheduling, kiosk mode, password protection, and other options; and 2) it's way easier to use. Suryl … Read more
LAS VEGAS--Guardian on the Go, a mobile application launched today on iPhone, gives people immediate access to a network of trusted contacts and professional services when they're confronted with an emergency situation.
The iPhone application, made by Proteg-Go, is designed to work in all crisis situations, natural disasters and medical emergencies included, and offers people a one-click way to get help faster than if they were to dial 9-1-1.
After first configuring their contact network, users simply click the red "Crisis" button to message friends via SMS. They can also opt to push an update out to … Read more
Starbunker: Guardians 2 HD is a shoot-em-up game for the iPhone and iPad. With a mix of strategy and plain-old shooting built in, Starbunker: Guardians 2 HD tries to appeal to several genres of gaming. The installation proceeds quickly and without a problem.
Graphically, Starbunker: Guardians 2 HD is good, but we found the screen to be overly dark and confusing, and it was sometimes difficult to discern what was going on. The game is quite large, with 36 battlefields to fight on and an array of aliens all storming your position. You first select where to position yourself for … Read more
If you're a gamer or at least marginally interested in videogames, today's show is for you. With Justin Yu out of town for the day, Jeff invited gaming industry all-stars Russ Frushtick (Polygon) and Scott Jones (EP Daily) to take on a handful of gaming-related topics. Laughs were had, tears were shed, but at the end of the day we all got a little closer.
Topics from today's show:
- Scott is really digging Fieldrunners 2.
- Will Need For Speed: Most Wanted finally give us the Burnout-esque game we've been asking for?
- What the hell is going to happen with the Wii U?
- Just how Assassin's Creed-y will Assassin's Creed III be?… Read more
NQ Mobile isn't content to protect your phone; it wants to protect your children too.
The company, which primarily makes mobile security software that fights off malware and viruses on smartphones, is moving to an adjacent area of security with its Family Guardian app. The app, only available on Android for now, is presented as an all-in-one parental control tool.
Victoria Repice, senior director of product development for NQ Mobile, ran through the app with me last week. While nothing that it does is particularly new, the app does bundle together a lot of features under one price.

Apple's forthcoming iPad Mini may only sport a Wi-Fi connection, according to the Guardian.
The Guardian, citing unnamed industry sources, also said there would be a revised version of its larger iPad that would sport the Lightning dock connector and run on the 4G LTE network run by U.K. Everything Everywhere.
The report is just the latest leak on the smaller version of the iPad, which is widely believed to be revealed at an event next week. Invitations for the event are expected to come out some time in the next few days.
Apple declined to comment to … Read more
Somebody contemplated the Olympics and thought, "Sure, this is exciting and all, but what it really needs is to be re-enacted with interlocking pieces of plastic." The Lego Olympics were born.
The stop-motion videos from The Guardian range from memorable moments like Usain Bolt's victory in the Fastest Man Alive competition to Shin Lam's sit-down fencing protest.
The women's fencing semi-final takes place with Lego Storm Trooper helmets as fencing masks, a feature I would like to see applied to the real-life sport. … Read more

Both apps are grouped into Sprint Guardian, which is available in the Sprint Zone app on your Android smartphone.
Jeff and Russ will both be there to cover the show, and while casual gamers may still lament the lack of hardware announcements this year, there are still plenty of highly anticipated games to get their hands on, including "The Last of Us," "The Last Guardian," and the new "Tomb Raider."… Read more
More than a quarter of a million unredacted copies of secret U.S. diplomatic cables have shown up on the Internet after a security breach at WikiLeaks.
The document-leaking organization today accused a reporter for the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper of disclosing the password that allowed access to the 251,000 State Department cables that WikiLeaks had obtained. The password was allegedly included in "WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy," which the Guardian published in February.
"A Guardian journalist has negligently disclosed top secret WikiLeaks' decryption passwords to hundreds of thousands of unredacted unpublished … Read more
