AT&T grabs Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet with LTE

AT&T announced on Wednesday that the LTE-capable Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will join the carrier's roster in "the coming weeks" as an AT&T exclusive.

First unveiled at Mobile World Congress, the Note 8.0 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and features a 1.6GHz quad-core processor. Additional details include a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD slot for cards up to 32GB. FCC tips Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 with support for AT&T

AT&T may soon offer a 4G LTE variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, if recent FCC documents are to be believed.

Engadget spied the 8.0-inch SGH-I467 tablet wandering the virtual halls of the FCC with support for 850/1900 GSM and LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, and 17. In other words, all the necessary radios to work with AT&T's burgeoning 4G LTE network.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 may pop up in February

Samsung Electronics may add another member to its already large family of tablets.

The company is set to unveil the Galaxy Note 8.0, possibly next month at the Mobile World Congress conference, according to self-described "fansite" SamMobile, which did not cite sources for the information.

Among the mobile device vendors, Samsung has been one of the most aggressive in pushing its tablet lineup. It was one of the first to introduce an Android tablet in the original Galaxy Tab, and it releases new sizes and variants on a regular basis.
