How to access your 'other' inbox on Facebook for Android

You know you have a hidden inbox on Facebook, right? The "other" message folder is reserved for those people who message you and aren't one of your Facebook friends.

There's a chance some messages from nonfriends will go to your main inbox (depending on your settings), but most of the time these messages make their way to your other messages, without you ever being notified of a waiting message. Unless the sender decides to pay $1 to guarantee the message ends up in your main folder.

Up until recently, the only way to access your other … Read more

On Thursday Facebook announced its plans to begin letting Android users test unreleased builds of its app. The testing will allow Facebook to gain more insight on how its app behaves across a wide range of carriers, devices, and operating systems. The best part is that it's an opt-in program, so only users who want to deal with issues and bugs typically found in beta builds of an app will sign up.

Are you willing to deal with some issues in order to make the Facebook Android app better for everyone? If so, make sure you use the same … Read more

To change your cover photo using the Android app, make sure you're running the latest version of the Facebook app. Pull up your own timeline and tap on your cover photo. You can then select "View Photo" or "Change Cover"; … Read more

Facebook for Android jumps to 1.7, finally adds tagging

Facebook for Android (download) has today jumped to version 1.7, adding a slew of long-awaited features and Honeycomb support to the app that always seems to be playing catch-up.

While 1.7 can run on Honeycomb tablets, sadly it still does not include a tablet-optimized UI. The good news, however, is that the feature updates included in 1.7 are all pretty significant, and should help quell some of the most common complaints against the app.

Most notably, 1.7 finally lets users tag friends in photos, places, and posts. It's a wonder why this seemingly basic feature … Read more

HTC Status is strictly for Facebook fans

We'll admit we snickered a little bit at the idea of a "Facebook phone." How hard is it to access Facebook on a phone these days? Just get the app and tap a few buttons, and you're all set. Do you really need a dedicated Facebook button?

But the HTC Status changed our minds, if only for a little while. Designed in collaboration with Facebook, the HTC Status was first introduced at Mobile World Congress in the form of the HTC ChaCha. It really is a wonderfully designed handset, with a white-and-silver unibody look that is … Read more
