Price cut helps 3DS sales soar 260 percent

Following its price cut last month, the Nintendo 3DS has finally started flying off store shelves, the game company announced yesterday.

After the price was slashed from $229 to $169 on August 12, Nintendo sold 185,000 3DS units in the U.S. That figure was up a whopping 260 percent, compared to the same 19-day period in July. Prior to the price cut, Nintendo had sold 50,000 3DS units in August, bringing its total to 235,000 last month.

11 Nikon D3S cameras, 7 lenses headed to space

NASA has placed an order with Nikon for 11 units of its highest-end dSLR, the D3S, and 7 AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm F2.8G ED lenses to bring to space for documentation efforts. Interestingly, none of these cameras or optics will require any modifications, which attests to the ruggedness and versatility of the company's shooters.

The dSLRs will be brought to the International Space Station, where they will join a host of other Nikon products such as the D2X, lenses, and other Speedlight external flash units.
