DeLorean Motor Company showed off a prototype of an electrically driven DMC-12, which it promises to put into production in 2013.

You won't need a bolt of lightning to charge it up, and you won't be able to run it on eggshells and coffee grounds. Unlike the "Back to the Future" time machine, this DMC-12 electric conversion gets its electricity from the grid.

One of the most enduring images of the '80s is also one of the decade's most notable gadgets: the DeLorean. According to this story in the Los Angeles Times, the semi-classic car featured in Back to the Future may be primed for a limited-run comeback.

DeLorean Motor Co. Vice President James Espey has 200 of the original V-6 engines in stock. While DeLorean Motor Co. still stays in business refurbishing and servicing early-1980s DeLoreans, Espey says they may start building new ones from the stock parts in the next few years.

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since John DeLorean was arrested on drug-trafficking charges, a major scandal for the GM executive often credited for creating the famed Pontiac GTO. It seems like just yesterday to us but, then again, we still have a Members Only jacket somewhere in our closet.
