Funny or Die also released some metrics about the viewership of the film, which it says doubled traffic to its site on the day it was released, and has been viewed more than 740,000 times. In a release, the … Read more

HBO creating Silicon Valley show that's meant to be funny

As Manti T'eo and Lance Armstrong have discovered this week, you attain true credibility only when people make jokes about you.

Credibility -- true, natural recognition from the man in the tram -- is something Silicon Valley has craved for quite a few years.

Sadly, its first attempt -- Bravo TV's "Start-Ups: Silicon Valley" -- delivered all the credibility of a rubber cowboy boot.

Here were vacuous people uttering vacuous thoughts in a vacuum.

It was not a hit. Indeed, Bravo says it currently has no plans to revive the corpse.

HBO, though, is undeterred by the interred. Indeed, it has ordered a pilot of a show currently named "Silicon Valley." … Read more

'The Late Late Show' takes a shot at iPad Mini

After a whirlwind of Apple announcements, it's nice to take a quick break and chuckle at the experience after all the hype settles down.

During yesterday's "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" on CBS (disclosure: CBS is the parent company of CNET), the amusing Scottish talk show host took on the iPad Mini during the opening monologue.

In a futile attempt to explain the latest and greatest Apple product to the general audience, Craig points out that many people continue to repeatedly purchase the same thing in different sizes. You might have a laugh as the eccentric comedian tries to explain that 8 inches isn't really that small. … Read more

Monty Python app brings 'Flying Circus' sketches to iOS

The handful of Monty Python apps released to date have been of mixed value. The Angry Birds ripoff Cow Tossing was amusing but not fulfilling, while the "Holy Grail" companion The Holy Book of Days offered a fantastic behind-the-scenes look at everyone's favorite Python movie.

Now comes Python Bytes, a collection of 22 sketches from the first season (or "series," to use Brit-speak) of the "Monty Python's Flying Circus" TV show.

Among the highlights: "Albatross," "Dead Parrot," and "Lumberjack Song." In other words, there's ample comedy gold to be mined here.… Read more
