My favorite high horsepower car under $50k

...the Ford Mustang Boss 302. Oh, I know, here come the Chevy and Mopar folks telling me I'm biased because I own a bunch of Fords, but the Fords I own were all made before Clinton was in office -- some before Nixon. So that's that.

I love the Boss because it moves well, sounds good, looks good, and is enjoyable to be in, not just be seen in. It's an absolute hammer on the road, does so without the lumpy, surging weirdness of turbos and blowers, and is just this side of too wild for daily … Read more

Cooley's Logbook: 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1

I came away from the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with the impression of slightly unrefined brawn. Unlike the Mustang Shelby GT500, which is almost delicate in its handling, the Camaro is sort of a raw thing. It shudders and bangs when you start it, doesn't finesse the road surface -- and ride quality suffers a bit with that -- and has no fussy LCD-based cabin tech. It really feels close to a track car that was smoothed over enough for road use, just what Chevy had in mind. … Read more

Chevy Camaro is as popular online as it is on the road

The Chevy Camaro Facebook fan page boasts 1.8 million followers--that's the same as the population of West Virginia.

According to Chevy, about 60 percent of these fans are between the ages of 18 and 34--just the target market the company is going for.

Camaro's many followers could be, in part due to the Camaro Convertible released earlier this year and the limited-edition Camaro models.

The amount of Camaro's Facebook fans not only outnumbers Chevy's parent company, but also several other automakers. As of today, General Motors has 285,773 fans. Ford Motor has 854,991 … Read more

Guy Fieri shows off new Camaro on Twitter

It's no Lamborghini Gallardo, but it'll get the job done. Guy Fieri's newest ride is a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible SS, fresh off the assembly line--just a slight downgrade from his 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo that was stolen from a dealership last month.

The celebrity chef posted a photo on Twitter of the yellow, black-top convertible along with the caption, "Bitchin' Camaro...thanks to my bruthas at Chevy! First yellow conv off tha line!"

The new 6.2-liter Camaro SS sports a V-8 engine that produces 426 horsepower. The missing Lambo is equipped with a V-10 … Read more

So long, Daewoo: GM drops name and logo from So. Korean cars

General Motors won't be selling cars in South Korea under the Daewoo label, the automaker announced today. The Daewoo logo will be replaced by the Chevrolet name and signature bow-tie logo. The company name, GM Daewoo, will also be changed to GM Korea Co., the company said in a statement.

"This important new brand strategy is designed to strengthen our commitment to the Korean market, recognizing it as one of the strongest-performing countries within GM's global operations. We are well positioned to bring one of the world's iconic brands to Korea," said Mike Arcamone, President … Read more

Chevy brings in ham radio expert to engineer hidden antenna

The 2011 Chevy Camaro Convertible boasts new AM/FM antenna technology, thanks to its fans and one ham radio operator.

Fans spoke out after leaked photos of the new Camaro revealed an AM/FM whip antenna on the rear deck lid.

Chevy turned to ham radio operator and antenna expert Don Hibbard to help redesign the car's antenna. Hibbard and colleague Gregg Kittinger were challenged to conceal the AM/FM antenna without sacrificing radio reception.

"We weren't sure that it would be possible," said Kittinger. "Typically antennas are hidden in a vehicle's rear window, … Read more

Drop-top Camaro previewed on Facebook

Unofficial Chevrolet Camaro convertibles have been available for almost as long as the coupe has, thanks to customizers like Drop Top Customs. This week at the 2010 LA Auto Show, Chevrolet will be showing off the official 2011 Chevrolet Convertible in its final production form. For those who can't wait a few days, the soft top has been unveiled on the Chevy Camaro Facebook page.

Like the hard top, the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will be available with the 312 horsepower direct-injected V-6 engine or as a 426 horsepower 6.2-liter V-8 SS model. The Camaro Convertible rolls off of … Read more

Crave 24: Camaro bacon probe (podcast)

This week, we take a look at a concept that's movie-worthy, but perhaps not entirely realistic for actual life use. Also on the menu: a crazy stunt involving a personal flying machine, a freaky-looking flying robot probe that inspires countless minutes of Star Wars prattling (much to Jasmine's chagrin), and a super sweet-looking speaker with a jaw-dropping price tag. Plus, the Nano gets turned into a watch, and a computer gets turned into a bitchin' Camaro. Finally, we satisfy some fattening cravings with bacon soda, cupcake burgers, and adult chocolate milk (or, "This is why you're drunk").

Chevrolet tips its SEMA Show hand

Las Vegas, Nevada is a city where you normally keep your cards close to the vest. However, with the 2010 SEMA Show just around the corner, Chevrolet gives us a sneak peak at what it plans to bring to the show floor in a slick promotional video.

As was the case last year, expect to see more Camaros than you can shake a shift knob at, both at GM's own booth and peppered about at the booths of third parties. From the looks of the video, Chevrolet will be rounding out the selection with what look like a few heavily modified Silverados and at least two custom Corvettes.

Check out the video after the jump and stay tuned to our continuing coverage of the 2010 SEMA Show. … Read more
