Bubble Blast Easter 1.0.6 Review

A common trend with mobile games is to take classic mechanics, combine them with a one-minute timer, and challenge users to get as high a score as possible. It's immediately addictive, easy to compete with others, and makes the "freemium" upgrade model easier to implement. That said, Bubble Blast Easter manages to make it work in many ways with only a handful of drawbacks to an otherwise finely-structured, free app.

The goal of Bubble Blast Easter is to shoot colored eggs at a pattern of eggs above you to match and destroy the old eggs. It's … Read more

Addictive fun bubble shooter

Here's a novel concept: shoot bubbles to group three or more of the same color together and pop them, while more bubbles appear at the top of the screen. If the bubbles take over the screen you lose. Yeah, we've seen it before in over a dozen different apps for Mac OS X and iOS, but Bubble Shootix is actually a well-done version of this genre. The free version of Bubble Shootix includes ads. To go ad-free you need to spend $0.99. To get additional in-game currency, you need to spend more.

The Bubble Shootix app installs … Read more

Bubble-shooting puzzle strategy game

It might not offer the mental challenges of some games, but Bubble Shooter is a fun, even addictive game that anyone can play.

The basic objective of Bubble Shooter is simple. At the main menu of the app, you are given two main game options. The first one is the puzzle mode. In this mode, you have to complete the level by using the fewest bubbles possible. Don't worry, there are no specific time or bubble limits, but your score or evaluation can be greatly reduced as you use more bubbles. The arcade mode features larger, more general sets … Read more

Simple grouping game for the Mac

Bubble Free is a Mac OS X bubble-grouping game. It is identical to the Bubble MegaShift iOS game from the same publisher (99 cents for iOS; no free version listed in the App Store). Like so many other grouping games, it opens with a mix of colored bubbles that you remove by clicking on groups of two or more, causing the rest to shift down and fill the void. The larger the group you remove, the higher the score, until you can't remove any more.

Bubble Free installs easily enough and takes a second or two to learn. The … Read more

Word games you may not know about for smartphones

Most games on my iPhone keep my interest for awhile, but then they enter a state of sitting on my home screen until I remember to revisit them. If they sit long enough, I'll delete them knowing I can always redownload if the urge strikes me. But there is one category of games I never stop playing.

When I get a moment, I'm always catching up with word games on my iPhone. I constantly have a Scrabble (iOS|Android) game going along with both Scramble with Friends (iOS|Android) and Words with Friends (iOS|Android). When I have … Read more

Pop those bubbles in Bubble Mania

Bubble Mania is a free iOS app that will bring back the days when you used to pop bubbles to have fun and kill time while you were waiting for something. This time the bubbles come back with a tweak: you have to put them in the right order.

The app's interface couldn't be simpler, with instructions provided ahead of the game: pop 50 bubbles in less than 25 seconds, following the order of the bubbles at the top.

Yeah, that sounds like an easy job to do, and it really is on the first level, where you … Read more

Marble Blast is a unique bubble-based puzzler

Similar to probably a hundred other games in the Android Market, Marble Blast requires you to shoot monochromatic bubbles at other monochromatic bubbles. Create a cluster of three or more, and all of them pop and disappear. The object, of course, is to clear your screen of all of them.

What makes Marble Blast unique, however, is that the bubbles, or marbles, actually travel around your screen in a single-file line. They aren't stationary targets anchored to the top of your screen as they are in other bubble-based games like Bubble Blast 2. Your job in Marble Blast is … Read more
