Lego Batman: DC Super Heroes debuts for iOS

I have unabashed love for the Lego series of video games, which have adapted a wide range of movie series -- "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones," "Lord of the Rings," and more -- into improbably excellent action-adventures.

Alas, only two of them have been ported from consoles to iOS: Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7. Great games, both, but with limited appeal unless you're a Harry Potter fan.

It was a long wait -- almost a year to the day -- but finally there's another Lego game for … Read more

Armorer makes Batman 'Batarangs' sharp as an ax

For most of us, Batman's cool toys are pretty much out of reach. We'll never drive a Batmobile. We won't slip on a Batsuit or fire a Bat grappling gun. The iconic "Batarang," Batman's bat-shaped cross between a throwing star and a boomerang, however, may be a little bit more in reach.

Prop maker and swordsmith Tony Swatton has created weapons for more than 200 films. He tackles a new item each week in his online show, "Man at Arms." Most recently, he went to town on building and demonstrating a Batarang. Swatton certainly has the cred for this project. He's worked on three Batman movies, including creating Bane's belt buckles for "The Dark Knight Rises."… Read more

Batman makes an arrest (no, really)

No one knows who Batman really is.

But when he arrests you and takes you to the police station, you know you're in trouble.

No, I haven't been reading comics or feasting on old episodes of Adam West and Burt Ward.

I've been reading the Guardian, which informs me that CCTV images released by police in West Yorkshire, England, reveal that a caped crusader marched a wanted man into a police station and handed him over to the authorities.

There is no evidence of there having been a struggle. Just as there is no evidence of a … Read more

All Batmans morph into one super Bruce Wayne

Take equal parts Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale. Import head shots into Photoshop. Add a dash of Sqirlz Morph morphing software. Mix well. Enjoy your new Bruce Wayne!

Redditor morphinapg is on a tear, combining multiple actors into single images. So far, the intrepid graphic artist has tackled Batman, Superman, James Bond, and Doctor Who.

I have to say, this new Bruce Wayne looks pretty good. He could be a real person, and I could even see him getting cast in some Batman reboot down the line.… Read more

Apple Maps confuse 'Batman'

One or two jokes have been directed at Apple Maps ever since a less than perfect launch last month. We made one of our own on Rumor Has It a few weeks ago.

It seemed, to some at least, that the maps app had been created after a very drunken lunch between Siri and the Joker.

What a coincidence, then, that a film has emerged of "Batman" losing his way because of his new iPhone 5.

While Siri attempts to direct him as best she can, given her seeming predilection for a tincture at any time of day, … Read more

If Batman drove a Kia, it would look like this

The Batmobile (in all of its various incarnations) is probably as famous as the Batman who pilots it. However, if you should happen to find yourself in New York this week (perhaps for some sort of comic book convention), you'll be able to get a peek at the car that Kia Motors would like to see as the Caped Crusader's next set of wheels: a top-of-the-line Kia Optima SX Limited. Well, they at least got the color right.

Personally, I'd like to think that if Batman were to drive a front-wheel-drive, Korean sports car, he'd be … Read more
