Steve Jobs movie starring Ashton Kutcher begins filming

The curtain has risen and the shooting has begun on the Hollywood biopic "jOBS" starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs.

Kutcher arrived on set today at Jobs' childhood home, according to Pacific Coast News. He donned a trimmed beard and shaggy hair -- looking actually not too different than when he's not playing Jobs.

The movie will focus on the earlier years of Jobs' life, from 1971 to 2000, producer Mark Hulme said in April. And rather than being about to Walter Isaacson's best-selling biography "Steve Jobs," the movie is supposedly based on widely … Read more

Steve Jobs movie to film at the original Apple garage

For those wondering how authentic the upcoming movie about Steve Jobs played by Ashton Kutcher will be, maker Five Star Feature Films says it's going to actual locations, including Jobs' childhood home, where the first Apple computers were pieced together in the garage.

The film's production company today said it plans to begin shooting principal photography at the Los Altos, Calif., home next month, with a release of the picture to follow in late fall of this year.

The garage, which belonged to the Jobs family, was Apple's official headquarters before the company moved to a rented … Read more

Steve Jobs movie starring Kutcher to focus on CEO's early years

The upcoming biopic starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs will cover the Apple co-founder's early years, the film's producer said in an interview.

The independent movie, which has been given the unfortunate working title of "Jobs: Get Inspired," will focus on Jobs' life from 1971 to 2000, Mark Hulme told Neowin magazine. The rookie producer said work on the movie's script, which is based on widely available information rather than a book, began when Jobs announced his retirement last August.

Kutcher was chosen for the role based on this physical resemblance to the late Apple … Read more

Who will play Woz in the Steve Jobs movie with Ashton Kutcher?

It was the April Fools' prank that turned out to be real -- Ashton Kutcher will be playing Steve Jobs in an indie movie about the icon's life.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak quickly gave his endorsement of the actor, who currently makes up somewhere between 20 and 40 percent of the title on the show "Two and a Half Men."

Woz said in a statement published by TMZ: "The fear that many might have is that Kutcher was selected because he's 'hot' right now. But I feel that his selection was done in the most professional manner. And I'm glad that he's onboard."

Maybe Woz was a fan of "That 70's Show"? Or is it just the fact that he's one of the nicest guys in Silicon Valley who's never disparaged another carbon-based life form? It will be interesting to see whether Kutcher can truly pull off the turtleneck and jeans.

And more importantly, who will play Woz?… Read more

Hollywood picks Kutcher to play Jobs? We've got better picks

When he heard the news that Ashton Kutcher would star in the upcoming indie pic about the life of Steve Jobs our colleague Chris Matyszczyk asked the right question, wondering whether "Mr. Two and a Half Men" will be able to muster the necessary rage and superior scowl that part calls for.

Obviously, central casting was looking for someone who would look good in a black turtleneck but can Kutcher summon up the myriad contradictions that came to define Apple's co-founder. With all due respect, we'd like to offer an alternative acting slate for consideration.

The 404 1,023: Where we go one step beyond (podcast)

Out of all the silly headlines that squirmed into my Google Reader feed yesterday, "Ashton Kutcher signed on to play Steve Jobs in upcoming biopic" stood out as the most obvious April Fools' prank, but the joke's on us when we find out today that it's true -- the star of such films as "The Butterfly Effect" and "What Happens in Vegas" will portray the Apple luminary in an indie film simply called "Jobs."… Read more

Ashton Kutcher to play Steve Jobs? Really?

The director of the movie is reported to be Joshua Michael Stern, whose last oeuvre was "Swing Vote" starring Kevin Costner. Production of this movie -- reportedly titled "Jobs" -- is allegedly to start in May.

Ashton Kutcher to be launched into space

When you are a man who has everything--and has had everything for some time--how many pleasures are left upon this planet?

It is, therefore, with a vast thrust of uplift that I report that Ashton Kutcher, he of CBS' "Two And A Half Men," a huge but fragile Twitter account, and a smile that floats many a romcom, is being taken into space.

Time magazine reports that Kutcher has become the 500th human being to sign up for a suborbital Virgin Galactic flight.

Virgin's Sir Richard Branson was so heartily chuffed by this increase in his revenue … Read more
