Next week, Google is expected to unveil an update to the Nexus 7, an LG Nexus phone, a high-end new tablet, and Android Jelly Bean, but there's a rumor going around that Google has another trick up its sleeve.

Apple talks up Facebook integration for iOS 6

Facebook has finally found its way into Apple's mobile operating system.

Apple said today that it would more closely tie Facebook into iOS 6. The new setup lets Facebook users post pictures and video directly to their accounts from iOS 6 without using the Facebook app, and post updates via Siri. Facebook calendars, including events and birthdays, and the App Store will also be integrated.

With the App Store integration, you can "like" apps, TV shows, and movies, and see what your friends have liked.

iPhone 5, iOS 6 may launch in September, says analyst

Apple users waiting for the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 could see both pop up by early September.

"We expect Apple to unveil iOS 6 GM (Golden Master) in early September," KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a note obtained by AppleInsider. "Based on the release schedule for iOS 6 GM, there is a very good chance iPhone 5 will start shipping also in early September."

iPhone users downloading more than 5 million free apps a day

iPhone users have been grabbing free apps at a feverish pace, says a new study from mobile ad firm Fiksu.

For the month of November, the total number of downloads of the top 200 free iPhone apps in the U.S. hit a record 5.65 million per day. That figure was 15 percent higher than the 4.91 million seen in October and a full 83 percent higher than the rate recorded a year ago.

November also was the first time that Fiksu's numbers surpassed the 5 million mark.
