Word has it Amazon is eyeing payments business GoPago, which could give it a leg up in the mobile payments business. According to reports in Italian newspapers La Repubblica and Corriere della Sera, GoPago CTO Vincenzo di Nicola said that Amazon has acquired the startup.
However, there appears to be some confusion over whether the acquisition happened or is going to happen. According to The Wall Street Journal, Nicola later said his comments were only "partly accurate." CNET contacted Amazon and GoPago for comment and we'll update the story when we get more information.

As the world moves into higher and higher digital resolution, production companies have to keep up. Amazon Studios appears to be looking to one such company to lead the charge in shooting its television series with 4K technology.
The company announced Monday that it plans to shoot all of its 2014 full-length original series, as well as any new pilots, in 4K ultra HD.

Amazon may soon have a demonstration on its hands at its Seattle headquarters, according to a new report.
Employees who have been on strike and demonstrating at two fulfillment centers in Germany plan to host a rally outside the company's headquarters in Seattle at 10 a.m. PT today, The New York Times reported, citing people involved in the rally.
The rally will be an offshoot of the ongoing dispute between Amazon and employees in Germany, where workers at two fulfillment centers have demonstrated against the company, arguing that they're not being treated properly.

Amazon is apparently hoping to get a last-minute holiday shopping push for some of its new Kindle Fire HDX tablets by offering an interest-free payment plan.
After temporarily dropping the price of the 7-inch model earlier this week, the online retailer is now offering buyers of its Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 the option to pay for the tablets in four installments over the course of nine months.
