HTC working to bring parts of new Sense UI to older devices

One of the coolest aspects about the upcoming HTC Sensation 4G is the new HTC Sense user experience, which brings a number of slick features like the enhanced lock screen. Of course, if you're still locked into your older HTC device, you may just be green with envy, but there's now hope that you'll also be able to get a taste of the new UI.

The prospects actually didn't look so good last night when HTC responded to a customer via its Twitter account and said that hardware requirements would limit Sense 3.0 to its … Read more

LG gearing up to launch 3D line of smartphones

LG has started sending out invitations to an event at next month's Mobile World Congress. Though it stops just shy of unveiling a device, LG says that it plans to take us into a "new dimension" on February 14.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the company will be showing off a 3D phone, presumably the LG Optimus 3D. 3D cell phone from India sells for sub-$100

There are quite a number of mobile phones from India that don't make it to the rest of the world. Here's a new one that has a 3D display and costs less than $100. The QVGA screen on the M-67 from Spice Mobility shows a 3D image or video without glasses, much like the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game console.

3D screen aside, the M-67 is a 2.5G phone with two SIM card slots, a 2-megapixel camera, and an FM tuner. It's available only in India, so we don't expect to test it out any time … Read more

3D life on a mobile phone

Could this be "Third Life"? Gemini Mobile Technologies is unveiling "S! Town," which it calls the world's first 3D community for cell phones. Mobile Magazine says this third dimension, based on Gemini's patented eXplo software, can be used for such activities as chatting with other avatars, buying goods in virtual stores and sharing multimedia content.

S! Town, which is cutting its ribbon on the Japanese market first with phones from Sharp and Toshiba, would obviously like to duplicate the success of that nation's Mixi social network. But even if it wins popularity there, … Read more
