USuggest: Another way to monetize your blog

USuggest, which launched today, lets you make money when you mention products in your blog, e-mails, or forum posts. It's not the first "affiliate marketing" product out there, and in its current alpha test stage it's not quite robust enough to use regularly, but it's got some interesting tweaks on the concept.

All I want for Christmas is a PSP viral-marketing campaign

This is simply sad. Alliwantforxmasisapsp.com is one of the most transparent and pathetic examples of viral marketing the Internet has seen, and that's being nice about it. This thinly veiled commercial in the form of a blog chronicles two target-demographic hipster tweens named "Charlie" and "Jeremy" in their quest to get a PSP for Christmas. The cost still isn't cheap--$… Read more

Sony goes Pink without the pink

Clever or clueless? That's our question for this latest marketing job by Sony, which features its own pink entry to the campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month as seen on Shiny Shiny. There are a couple of reasons for our skepticism: One, the product isn't pink--instead, it's a 512MB Memory Stick Micro storage device that is pre-loaded with exclusive tracks and other material from the pop star named after said pastel. The other reason is, well, it's Sony. The company doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to its advertising acumen. After … Read more
