Subaru's Exiga is a minivan concept that will go into production eventually. Subaru specifies a boxer-style engine and all-wheel-drive, two elements that the company knows how to build. Video screens abound in the cabin, even in place of the rear-view mirror, which would use a camera to show what's behind the Exiga.
Although none of these cars are likely to make it to production, they represent some of the most interesting, or, possibly, aberrant, ideas in automotive design. From the Nissan R.D/B.X, designed to let its occupants interact, to the Honda Puyo with its gel-covered body, these concepts are as wild as they come.

Among the concept cars on display at the 2007 Tokyo auto show, a substantial number run off of electricity. Some, such as the Suzuki Pixy and the Nissan Pivo2, are a little outlandish. But many represent very serious efforts on the part of automakers to develop a successful and practical zero-emission vehicle. We've seen press releases and photos heralding Nissan's, Suzuki's, and Mitsubishi's car lineups for the upcoming Tokyo auto show, and now Subaru showed full details of what it will bring to the floor. Car enthusiasts will be eager to get a look at the new WRX STi, which will hopefully reinject a little fun into the disappointing 2008 WRX. Subaru, one of the more popular car companies with the green set, is going to show off an electric car prototype at the Tokyo Auto Show later this month in what could be a prelude to coming out with a car commercially.
The G4e concept is a triangular-shaped thing, but it has four wheels (unlike the triangular three-wheeled Xebra from Zap.) The G4e will accommodate five passengers, and the batteries will be stored in the floor.

Working with technology used in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge, Subaru is trying to give its cars sight. A display at Subaru's 2007 Geneva auto show booth shows how two cameras can produce stereo-optic vision, which can be processed to show how far objects are away from the car.
