Address Book distribution list editor disabled by iCloud

After creating a group of contacts in Address Book, you can send e-mails to its members by simply typing the name of the group in the address field of an e-mail message, and Mail will fill in a list of the e-mail addresses of its members.

When Mail does this, by default the primary e-mail address for the contacts in the group will be used, so if a member has multiple e-mail addresses then the first one listed will be used. However, this default behavior can be changed by using Address Book's distribution list editor (available in the Edit … Read more

Steve Jobs was an influence for all entrepreneurs

Steve Jobs, as a fan outside a San Francisco Apple store last night said, "was kind of like this generation's John Lennon."

And just as the Beatles in some way influenced every popular band of the day, so too has Jobs influenced all good entrepreneurs--even though many of today's founders might not realize it.

Jobs, above all, was the tech industry's biggest advocate for the consumer. He hated buttons on devices. He even hated corners. He was tech's leading advocate of simplicity. And that demand--"make it simple"--is one of the … Read more

How to restore Facebook's Most Recent news feed

Do you count yourself among the multitudes who dislike Facebook's latest revision, mainly because it took away the ability to toggle between Top Stories and Most Recent in your news feed? Regarding the new news feed, Facebook explains, "If you haven't visited Facebook for a while, the first things you'll see are top photos and statuses posted while you've been away...If you check Facebook more frequently, you'll see the most recent stories first."

If you don't trust Facebook to sort your news for you, you can manually create a Most Recent news feed. Ironically, you must turn to one of Facebook's new features--Lists--to resurrect the old Most Recent feed. Just create a custom list and add all of your friends and pages to it; the resulting list appears to be sorted by chronological order. Disclaimer: If you have hundreds upon hundreds of Facebook friends, the process will be laborious because there isn't a way to select all, at least that I have found. Instead, you must click one by one to add each friend or page to the list.… Read more

Facebook unveils Smart Lists to categorize friends

Facebook is giving users a hands-off option for managing friends lists.

Dubbed Smart Lists, the latest improvement to the social network automatically creates friend groups, so users don't need to manage their lists on their own. According to Facebook, for now the feature will create lists connected to workplace, school, family, and city.
