iPhone MMS send failure fix

I woke up last Friday morning, just like everyone else, looking forward to finally getting MMS on my iPhone 3GS. However, for some of us, the excitement turned into dismay when the MMS update didn't work.

Users were discussing the issue under the topic MMS message send failure on Apple support forums. I was experiencing the problem and initially I could not fix it--even after spending more than 2 hours on the phone with Apple and AT&T. Today I decided to take a new approach and I found an ironically simple fix for this problem that we … Read more

Major, minor iPhone 3.1 upgrade problems and how to fix them

A number of iPhone Atlas readers, and numerous more on Apple's Discussion boards, have reported a bevy of problems--some large, some small--after upgrading to iPhone OS 3.1. The following two procedures work to solve a number of the reported problems:

Reset your iPhone by holding down the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. Restore your iPhone: In iTunes, click the Restore button under the Summary tab. Restoring the phone will erase contacts, calendars, photos, and other data on the phone, but will restore automatically backed-up information including text messages, notes, call history, contact favorites, sound … Read more

Apple quietly squashes MobileMe Find My iPhone bugs

Among the bevy of problems--some large, some small--reported by iPhone users following the release of iPhone OS 3.0 and the iPhone 3GS lurked a bug I encountered in Find My iPhone on Apple's MobileMe service.

Find My iPhone remembers all your devices, including any old iPhones turned off or sold after you upgraded to the iPhone 3GS. Until now, there was no way to make Find My iPhone forget that old iPhone.

Apple has quietly released an updated Apple support document, "MobileMe, iPhone OS 3.0: Troubleshooting Find My iPhone and Remote Wipe," which now states:… Read more

Jailbroken or unlocked iPhone Push errors cause AIM to misfire

The founder of Equinux, Till Schadde, recently discovered an interesting problem with the AIM app and Push Notifications. According to Schadde and reported by Crunchgear, AIM on jailbroken and unlocked iPhones was sending messages to random recipients without the sender's knowledge. In other words, that sexy sweet nothing you sent your sweetheart might have reached a stranger instead.

The problem, which apparently effects only the iPhone 2G and 3G is directly caused by an app called Pushfix, which is available via Cydia.

The iPhone Dev Team created the app, which attempts to fix the Push feature on jailbroken iPhones. … Read more

iPhone Visual Voice mail service problems? Get it fixed here!

Over the weekend, we began to see reports from iPhone users who hadn't received Visual Voice mail notifications for as long as two weeks. We were a bit skeptical until we tested our own iPhone and discovered three messages from the previous week. After checking with friends, we found five additional reports of lost Visual Voice mail messages.

As of now, we have to agree with TechCrunch's MG Siegler who called "AT&T Is A Big, Steaming Heap Of Failure." Though we're just as dumbfounded and amazed at how widespread the problem is, there … Read more

Pre Sluggish? Heres The Fix!

As many Smartphone users agree, one of the most stressful mishaps on their device is lag, especially after a days use. While browsing a couple forums I happened to come across this thread explaining how to easily and quickly troubleshoot these troubles. All of these features have been deemed working by me without any troubles. I live by the rule of a soft reset a day keeps the lag away. Without further ado here are the details, I would also like to take a moment to thank sprintgurus for the find in this thread. Click Me

Poorly designed interface

ExcelPipe is supposedly designed to let users search through multiple MS Excel spreadsheets to find and replace special characters in one fell swoop. Unfortunately its vague and poorly designed user interface makes it extremely difficult to accomplish this task.

The user interface is extremely bland. It employs tabs with the hopes of keeping you on track, but we found they worked just the opposite. Rather, the interface lacked any kind of flow, making it difficult to navigate. What's more, the button commands and features were not at all intuitive, and we had no idea how to get started. AT&T and Verizon deny price-fixing accusations

Executives from the nation's largest phone companies went to Capitol Hill Tuesday to defend themselves against allegations that they've been fixing prices on text messaging.

Executives from AT&T and Verizon Communications testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights, saying their companies have not been involved in a conspiracy to hike text messaging rates. And they argued that competition is alive and well in the wireless market.

The hearing was called in response to a letter sent in September from Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.) to the four major U.S. operators--Verizon, AT&… Read more
