Lost Steve Jobs time capsule still missing, 29 years later

Somewhere under Aspen, Colo., a time capsule containing Steve Jobs' mouse has been sitting and waiting to be unearthed. Since 1983. And no one knows where it is.

That's what blogger Marcel Brown wrote this morning, explaining that the time capsule, known as the Aspen Time Tube and buried in conjunction with the 1983 International Design Conference there, is lost and those looking for it are facing considerable odds against success.

According to a 2010 article in the Glenwood Springs (Colo.) Post Independent, the Aspen Time Tube was buried in June, 1983, and contained a number of items, ranging … Read more

Steve Jobs seems to predict iPad in rare 1983 recording

We take for granted that Steve Jobs was ahead of his time. A new recording from 1983 suggests just how far ahead he was.

Blogger Marcel Brown posted audio to his Life, Liberty and Technology site today of Steve Jobs' full speech from the International Design Conference in Aspen, Colo. Though the main portion of this talk had surfaced in August, the new recording contains an extended Q&A featuring Jobs' thoughts on networking, voice recognition, and even "an incredibly great computer in a book that you can carry around with you" that sounds a lot like the iPad that Apple would release 27 years later.… Read more

If Steve Jobs were alive today, he'd be, um, Steve Jobs

If John Belushi were alive today, would he have become a serious dramatic actor and pulled off a moving "Hamlet" in company of Jack Black? Or Jack White?

If Michael Jackson were alive today, would he choose to be a judge on "American Idol," "The Voice," or "The X Factor"?

Would Jackson insist that Jimi Hendrix join him on the judging panel -- if he were alive today?

Perhaps such speculation is amusing after a glass or four among friends.

And yet, after Apple presented iPhone 5 and the maps insertion led … Read more

Steve Jobs: A comic book superhero (video)

A Canadian comic book publisher is taking a biographical twist with its latest releases. Instead of caped crusaders and Web-slinging avengers, the focus is on tech pioneers like Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Steve Jobs.

Bluewater Production comics has already seen success with comic books about pop culture icons like Lady Gaga and Betty White. Writers and illustrators say the stories of these technology mavericks play out in many ways like a typical comic story, the heroes are just real people overcoming the odds with super human qualities we all admire.

But there is a real difference between penciling a … Read more
