New Porsche 911 releases 620 horses

The thing to keep in mind about Porsche is that the company basically makes road-legal race cars; hence the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. This new model, limited to a production run of 500, wrings 620 horsepower out of its 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine. Of course, that kind of power wouldn't be possible without twin turbos and clever tuning.

That horsepower finds its real world expression in 3.4 seconds to 60 mph, a top speed of 205 mph, and a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in just 7 minutes and 18 seconds.

So as we saw in Monday's video blog, there are some car owners who not only love their Volkswagen Rabbits, but also want to update and upgrade their European bunnies. NEW YORK--The Porsche Cayenne may be one of the fastest SUVs around, but Porsche aims to make it one of the cleanest around, too, with its new hybrid system. Porsche unveiled the Cayenne S Hybrid at the 2010 New York auto show, a full hybrid capable of driving under electric power up to 35 mph.

An electric powered sports car named "Greenster," got a test drive today in Manchester, England. Juergen Maier, head of industry at Siemens Manchester and Sir Howard Bernstein, Manchester City Council chief executive, took to the streets in a effort to promote Smart Grid.

High-performance automaker Porsche plans to unveil a hybrid version of its 911 GT3 R race car at the Geneva Motor Show in March--and then enter it in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring race this May.
