Apple's low-cost smartphone will look like the iPhone 5, take some cues from the iPod Touch and the iPod classic, and switch to a plastic body.

At least, that's the latest scuttlebutt from the folks at Apple news site iLounge. Citing the usual "reliable sources," the site claims the new model will be a cross between the iPhone 5, the fifth-generation iPod Touch, and the classic iPod.

It's no surprise that the Apple rumor mill is already churning this year, with iLounge reporting a few tidbits today about the next iPhone, iPad, and iPad Mini.

iLounge cited an unnamed source who said he or she "suspects" the reported iPhone 5S will have an upgraded rear camera featuring Sony's 13-Megapixel sensor, along with an improved processor. The source also said Apple plans to release the phone in July and that the code names for its prototypes are N51 and N53.

Google will announce the rumored Motorola X Phone at its annual Google I/O conference in May, according to the latest round of rumors.

A 600-page forum thread picked up by Droid Life spills a number of new details for the forthcoming Google and Motorola initiative.

Although the X Phone, as it's known now, may make its formal debut in mid-May at the developer conference, the handset isn't expected to arrive until July 8.

In an about-face, Digitimes -- the purveyor of numerous Apple rumors, some of which have been true -- says not to get your hopes up for an even larger version of the iPhone. At least not this year.

The tech news site says Apple's still working on one but that it won't come in the second half of this year, as Digitimes excitedly reported earlier this month. A leaked slide sent to blog site Engadget teased a host of alleged details about the Optimus G Pro. If the slide is on the money, the new smartphone would sport a 5-inch 1,920x1,080 pixel display and tap into a 1.7GHz Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon processor for its power.

Apple's next-generation iPad Mini will feature a high-resolution Retina Display, says KGI Securites analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In an investors note detailed last night by MacRumors, Kuo projects that the iPad Mini 2 will come with the same Retina Display already offered by its larger counterpart.

The upgrade will be beneficial not only to consumers but to developers who can then design the same high-resolution apps to fit both iPad models. Apple could have a busy summer if the latest iPhone forecast from one analyst comes to fruition.

The company will launch an iPhone 5S and a revamped version of the iPhone 5 in June or July, predicts KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In an investors note received by MacRumors, Kuo said the iPhone 5S would be similar to the current model but offer a few improvements, including an A7 chip for faster performance and a fingerprint sensor. The camera specs would bump up to an f2.0 aperture and a smart LED flash.
