Former MSN exec joins Mozilla China

Li Gong, the former top executive for MSN in China, has joined Mozilla's Chinese subsidiary, Mozilla Online, as its chairman and CEO.

Gong officially assumed his current position in April. Prior to that, Gong was the co-chair of the nonprofit Mozilla China organization started in March 2005 to promote and develop Mozilla products in China.

Firefox does Twitter: Twitbin

Twitbin is a small Firefox extension that puts a Twitter sidebar inside your browser. Once you've logged in with your Twitter credentials, it keeps tabs on your friends or public Tweets. You can also write new posts right from the sidebar.

To toggle the Twitbin sidebar on and off, there's a bird logo that shows up on your browser next to the home button. Put Thunderbird to work

The most recent update to the Mozilla Thunderbird (download for Windows or Mac OS X ) mail client shoves the former fledgling out of Mozilla's nest. The goal, if unstated, is clear: get as many people as possible to try the app, and hope that the appeal of a lighter client with similar power to Outlook and Outlook Express will pull some users away from Microsoft's ubiquitous software.

The Coop brings social networking to Firefox

The Mozilla Foundation's Labs has launched The Coop, a project that will let people keep track of their friend's online activities. The add-on will create a row or column of friends' photos. When a photo glows, the user can see that a friends has a new link, photo, blog, or video to share from content-sharing services such as del.icio.us and Flickr. The project planners envision using RSS or another mechanism to move the data between people's browsers. For more information, check out this News.com article.

Firefox add-ons site goes on a diet, gets face-lift [video]

On Monday, Mozilla launched an updated version of its add-ons page for its popular browser Firefox. The new page has redefined genres, language localization, and snazzy Ajax-enabled previews for screenshots. MS Firefox--Microsoft purchases Mozilla?

Clearly this is a hoax, but someone mashed up the Microsoft Internet Explorer home page with that of Mozilla Firefox to create the MS Firefox page. It's not too far fetched; Mozilla Firefox is open-source software and already Hacktivismo has based their TorPark browser on Mozilla Firefox 1.5, and Microsoft recently said it is exploring open-source solutions--but this is too much.
