Ice Cream Sandwich leak spotted on Droid Razr

Ice Cream Sandwich leaks are dripping all over the Motorola Droid Razr today with Android 4.0 apparently spotted on Verizon's fancy thin phone.

Droid Life posted the screen shots from a reader who claims to have gotten ahold of a build with the same file size as the file listed in Verizon's leaked update schedule that I reported on earlier today. That leak appeared to show plans to push out an over-the-air upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich for the Razr beginning on May 21.

I was also whining earlier about the false alarm upgrade I received to my own Droid Razr earlier this week that turned out to be an incremental Gingerbread update, but if rumors are true, that could have been the build required to lay the foundation for the imminent Android 4.0 upgrade.

Baby steps, I suppose. Unless, of course someone wants to share a Dropbox folder that just happens to contain that leaked Ice Cream Sandwich build with me....… Read more

Will AT&T and Verizon 4G LTE ever be compatible?

Most people buying the new iPad opt for the Wi-Fi only version. Why? The 4G LTE versions are more expensive, for one thing. And since you can't switch carriers later, it means you're locked in to either AT&T or Verizon Wireless.

The fact that an AT&T iPad can't be used on Verizon and Verizon's iPad can't be used on AT&T troubles many of these consumers. After all, aren't they using the same LTE network technology? And aren't they even using the same 700 MHz spectrum for this … Read more

AT&T announced a few days ago that a number of its devices will be getting an upgrade as well. These handsets include the LG Nitro, the Samsung Galaxy Note, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.

Motorola's Blade could continue Droid Razr design

Thanks to a number of leaks, the preliminary details and images for three unannounced Motorola smartphones have arrived online. Likely to end up in international markets, the three models bear the familiar form factor that is seen in handsets like the Atrix 2 and Droid Razr.

Up first, we have a device that looks strikingly similar to the recently leaked Droid Fighter. Details are light for this model, though the display appears to be in the realm of 4.5 inches or larger with space across the bottom for soft keys. … Read more

Did you know Verizon also throttles unlimited data service?

AT&T has taken a lot of heat over the past few months for slowing down service for its heaviest data users on its unlimited plans. But what about Verizon Wireless, which also still offers unlimited data to its older smartphone customers?

Verizon Wireless is bringing back its double-data promotion, offering heavy bandwidth users a potential new home.

Starting Friday, new customers or existing ones signing a new contract can get double the amount of capacity--4 gigabytes--when they purchase a 4G LTE smartphones and sign up for a $30 data plan and accompanying voice and text message plans.

The plan is part of a number of promotions Verizon is offering to customers in a bid to goose sales. The first quarter often sees a letdown in sales for wireless carriers, particularly after the frenetic pace of sales during the holiday period. Verizon … Read more
