Pantech Slate is slim on design and on features

Thin phones just never seem to fade away, even when it comes to the latest trend of messaging phones. Take the Pantech Slate, for instance. Pantech claims the Slate is the world's thinnest messaging phone at around 0.38 inch thick, which isn't too much of a stretch considering there aren't too many of these messaging phones around in the first place.

Still, we like its slender design and we found the keyboard to be very spacious and the raised keys are quite conducive to typing out quick text messages. The Slate doesn't have much else … Read more

AT&T starts selling the Pantech Slate

The Pantech Slate, which AT&T claims is the world's thinnest QWERTY mobile phone, officially met the public when AT&T started selling the handset Wednesday. No word from AT&T yet how many units it has sold, but when your other selections include the iPhone and Palm Centro, we can't expect this tiny unit to be a door buster.

The Slate has a 1.3-megapixel camera, 2.5G (Edge) connectivity for data, and Bluetooth. It's not for everyone, and we can't really call it a smartphone, but for people who text often, … Read more

Pantech goes thin with the Slate

Along with the Pantech Matrix, Pantech and AT&T have also launched the Pantech Slate, which the company claims to be the world's thinnest device with a full QWERTY keyboard. It doesn't have 3G or any fancy multimedia offerings, but it does have a 1.3-megapixel camera, instant messaging, email, and Bluetooth.

It will be available in black in late October for $49.99 after a two-year agreement.

Pantech Matrix slides both ways

AT&T and Pantech have just introduced the Matrix, a dual-sliding handset with both a QWERTY keyboard and a regular number keypad, just like the Pantech Duo and the Helio Ocean (also made by Pantech). Unlike the Duo, the Matrix is not a smartphone, and is primarily designed as a messaging phone with high-end multimedia features. Its features include HSDPA, Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, A-GPS (with AT&T Navigator support), instant messaging, a music player, mobile e-mail, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and quad-band GSM support.

Since it's a 3G phone, the Matrix will also have access … Read more

Pantech C610 unveiled and reviewed

Monday, Pantech and AT&T unveiled the Pantech C610. The C610 looks like a simple red and chrome handset on the surface, but underneath is a host of high-end features. They include 3G/HSDPA, a 1.3-megapixel camera and camcorder, a music player, AGPS (with support for AT&T Navigator), stereo Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, and more. Since it has HSDPA, the C610 also has access to AT&T's broadband services, such as AT&T Mobile Music (which lets you stream and download music from Napster and eMusic), AT&T streaming video, and … Read more

Smartphone rumors for everyone

It's summertime and things are heating up, and we don't necessarily mean the temperature (because it certainly isn't very hot here in San Francisco, but I digress). No, we're talking more about rise in smartphone rumors, which isn't uncommon for this time of year as the carrier's start prepping for the fall and holiday seasons. As such, the blogosphere is blowing up with speculation, and looks like there's something for every carrier. Now, we must reiterate that these are just rumors and obviously, the service providers and device manufacturers haven't confirmed anything, … Read more

Pantech's love connection phone

Who needs sweet nothings uttered on the phone when you can send across your love through touch? Korean company Pantech is tapping into the gold mine of youths on hormonal overdrive with too much money to spend.

Its Touch-Screen Phone Love Canvas (IM-R300), the company's first touch-screen outing, not only lets one party draw little hearts and send them over to his or her significant other's Love Canvas, but they can also express their emotional status with various emoticons and vibrations by touching the panel.

The Sky-branded phone is being tested through SK Telecom, according to Telecoms Korea. (… Read more

Pantech Breeze should be a breeze to use

Today AT&T and Pantech announced the Pantech Breeze, an entry-level handset designed for an older audience.

Not only does it have a clean and simple interface, it has three dedicated speed dial/quick-call keys right underneath the display, a bright screen with big fonts, oversized buttons with tactile clicks, an option to have audible keystrokes, a loud speakerphone, and even a basic and easy-to-use camera.

And at $49.99, it's a deal even for us young whippersnappers.

AT&T's spring lineup leaked?

Ah spring time; when romance, flowers, and new cell phone rumors bloom. A leaked "confirmation" to Engadget reveals a slew of upcoming phones to AT&T's lineup, and the lineup is a doozy. Not only do we get even further information that the LG Vu with MediaFLO is in the works, but we also hear that the Sony Ericsson Z750, the Motorola W760 Hurricane, a new Pantech Breeze flip phone, the Motorola Z9 slider, and last but certainly not least, the Nokia N95 for the North American market may finally be in AT&T's … Read more

AT&T to launch a red Pantech Duo next week

It almost seems like every other handset is getting the red or pink treatment in time for Valentine's Day, and the Pantech Duo smartphone is no exception. If you'll recall, this dual-slider smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6, and has features such as a 1.3-megapixel camera, quad-band support, as well as HSDPA/3G speeds. We were not terribly impressed with the Duo's slider mechanism and user interface, but it is one of the cheapest smartphones. It will set you back $99, with an AT&T contract. You can see the red Duo in shelves and online … Read more
