Crave giveaway of the week: Klipsch Image S4 earbuds

We haven't given away an Editors' Choice product in a while, so we figured it was high time we posted one here on the Crave giveaway of the week, particularly since everyone could use a pair of high-quality earbud-style headphones.

In her review of the Klipsch Image S4 earbuds, editor Jasmine France said these 'buds "offer up sound quality on par with and better than sets that cost many times as much; they are a spectacular choice for anyone looking for new earbuds."

Normally, the Klipsch Image S4 earbuds would cost around $79, but you have the … Read more

Best earbuds for small ears

Anyone who has listened to me on the MP3 Insider podcast, followed me on Twitter (WeirdEaredJas), or even taken the time to peruse the bio below knows I am cursed with absurdly tiny ears. Heck, you can even see for yourself in the multitude of in-ear photos plastered across the headphone reviews on CNET. Happily for me, I am not alone in my deformity (yes, misery does indeed love company).

In fact, many purveyors of portable audio find standard earbuds uncomfortable and can't get many in-ear headphones to fit properly into the ear. It is for my fellow small-eared … Read more

Etymotic announces iPod control mod, new earphone line

Walking into the North Hall at CES this year might make you wonder if someone had picked up MacWorld and deposited it into the Las Vegas desert. The space was packed end to end with various iPod accessories, complete with iLounge Pavilion. As you might imagine, headphones made up no small part of the audio offerings on display. Among the many companies on display was Etymotic, which was demonstrating its new mc-series headphones.

The sleek new earphones come in a variety of shimmery colors, including a forest green version not shown here. They also include Etymotic's excellent noise-isolating capabilities … Read more

Sennheiser, Adidas collaborate on sports headphones (podcast)

Sennheiser and Adidas worked together to create sports headphones. Sennheiser product manager Eric Palonen showed off some earbuds that include an "ear fin," saying that "we took a lot of the weaknesses of a typical headphone and made them a strength for the sports community." The ear fin, a small rubber extension near the ear pieces, keeps the phone from falling out of your ear. They also have water resistant cables that you can wash when dirty.

They range in price from $80 to $120. While these weren't 't the most exciting technology at the … Read more

Monster ushers in more star power with the new Diddy Beats

Sean "Diddy" Combs may be a bit over-the-top, but I have to give credit where credit is due: the cat's got style. And that's definitely part of the draw with the new earbuds he's putting out with Monster and Dr. Dre, the Diddy Beats.

These in-ear 'phones are clearly designed by a fashionable eye, from the tapered, conical earpieces to the chrome accents and lowercase "db" initials stamped on the outer edge. Add to that Monster's signature flat ribbon cable, and you have a head-turning style that's sure to attract listeners … Read more

Sennheiser pairs with Adidas, releases new sport headphones

If you're going to make fitness-friendly tech, teaming up with an athletic company is a good way to go. At least Sennheiser thinks so. The headphone manufacturer elected to work with Adidas when updating its sport line of earphones.

The line includes four new models--the MX 680, the CX 680, the OMX 680, and the PMX 680--ranging in design and price. For more details on each, check out the slide show, but the most compelling info is the fact that the headphones are super sweat and water resistant. Expect to see them on the virtual marketplace later this month.… Read more

Shure shrinks earbuds

LAS VEGAS--Shure on Thursday announced an update to its higher-end SE earphones, and while it may not be revolutionary, it's certainly welcome. Around the end of spring, you'll be able to pick up the SE425 for $299 or the SE535 for $499.

The new headphones feature the same inner circuitry as their predecessors, the SE420 and SE530, meaning you'll get the same stellar sound quality as with the previous models. However, the design updates to the earbuds are rather significant.

Namely, each pair has been noticeably slimmed down, making these 'buds an easier fit for more people. … Read more

Sony announces MDR-NC300D Digital Noise Canceling Earbuds

For frequent fliers, good noise-canceling headphones can make the difference between a relaxing, enjoyable trip and a barely tolerable one. Of course, not all such cans are created equal, and two years ago, Sony upped the ante with its first pair of digital noise-canceling headphones. This designation refers to the fact that the headphones use a digital equalizer combined with a software engine in order to cancel ambient noise and reduce stress on your ears. It also allows the headphones to react in-kind to various environments, such as an airplane, a train, or an office, which all generate different types … Read more

Tech accessories for graffiti lovers

LAS VEGAS--Despite my jaded, bitter facade, there are times when I am easily impressed. Now is one of those times. A new, graffiti-inspired line from iWave is turning my head, and all the company did was splash a flashy exterior on to some otherwise pretty standard products.

The products in the Urban Collection include iPod/iPhone cases, earbuds, headphones, and speakers, which range in price from $9.99 to $39.99. Such budget pricing doesn't bode well for sound quality, but they sure do look purty! I'm especially fond of the speakers pictured above. Look for them on … Read more

Apple wins appeal in earbud hearing-loss lawsuit

Just because something can benefit from some improvement doesn't mean that it's necessarily bad for you. That's basically what a San Francisco appeals court said when it upheld a previous ruling that Apple iPod earbuds cannot be held responsible for hearing loss, according to a Reuters report.

In the ruling, a judge wrote that the plaintiffs didn't offer evidence to show that iPod earbuds were dangerous, only that they believed they could be made safer. The judge wrote:

The plaintiffs do not allege the iPods failed to do anything they were designed to do nor do … Read more
