On this laptop, beauty from within

Taiwan-based MSI did a nice job, or so we thought, with its "Crystal Collection" of luxury laptops released around Thanksgiving. Its designers, however, apparently thought that something was missing, but what? Why, more crystals, of course. Never be satisfied with anything if you can overdo it, we always say.

As BornRich notes, the company's latest line "takes the bling inside too" with stones around the touchpad in addition to the studded ring around its logo on the lid. The rest of the story remains the same, with the innards including an AMD Turion chip, up … Read more

DS Lite falls victim to Swarovski

At this rate, our well-documented paranoia over eggs will soon be eclipsed by fears of Swarovski crystals taking over the world.

The latest victim: The Nintendo DS Lite. Gadget Candy reports that a version of the gaming device encrusted with 1,200 stones--all pink, no less--has been spotted at the Multipazz boutique in London for 200 pounds (that's nearly $400, for those of us who don't get out much). The kicker? It was apparently designed by none other than Paris Hilton herself, which would explain the dog.

$2,500 headphones can blind you

Clearly, Swarovski crystals have cornered a market in consumer technology. We're not sure what market that is, exactly, but they've cornered it.

There's no disputing this fact with the introduction of these crystal-encrusted headphones, which Cool Hunter says were designed by DJ Donna D'Cruz in a variety of colors (shudder) for a mere $2,500. The phones are the latest to join Swarovski's unfortunately growing collection of mice, phones, laptops and, yes, refrigerators. Who needs a disco ball?

Austria meets Taiwan for luxury laptop

It's not often that you see a product pitched as "the fusion of Austrian beauty and Taiwanese innovation." On second thought, make that never. But it's a surprisingly accurate description of MSI's new Crystal Collection of laptops.

Unlike other jewel-laden computers, MSI's maiden Crystal model M677 seems to pay as much attention to its function as its form. Laptoping.com provides the details: "It incorporates 15.4-inch widescreen, AMD Turion 64 X2 processor, up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, 5400rpm hard drive and a DVD burner. MSI Crystal M677 is equipped with NVIDIA … Read more

Swarovski laptop is no diamond, just rough

Remember when practically every computer maker's product line sported such stunning colors as putty or battleship gray? What morons. Until Apple came along with the iMac, you'd think that they all lived in the monochromatic half of Pleasantville.

All that has changed, of course, but one name had been noticeably absent from the peacocking of the PC landscape: Swarovski. That's right, as in the crystals. In case you hadn't noticed, Swarovski has been making its way into all manner of hardware, ranging from Paris Hilton's cell phone to wireless mice and refrigerators.

Apparently Swarovski has … Read more

The best leopard crystal mouse around

It sounds like a recipe for fashion disaster: leopard skin print and Swarovski crystals. Yet the two manage to coexist, harmoniously or otherwise, on this wireless USB mouse from Saks. And if you're looking to accessorize, the store recommends the "Shuga Buds" Swarovski earbuds in gold. Oh, and don't forget the the matching fridge.

Turn your kitchen into a disco

As every worthy domestic god or goddess knows, kitchen appliances are everything. And they must be as fashionable as they are practical.

Alas, few companies truly understand this aesthetic--but, thankfully, D.R. Cooker is one of them. The latest display of the appliance designer's creative prowess is the crystal ball range hood. The look of this "remote-controlled extractor hood" is surprisingly versatile: As Appliancist points out, it can be interpreted as a disco ball or a chandelier, making it appropriate for a kegger or a cotillion. Our take: It would be the perfect companion to this designer washing machine.… Read more
