Nokia is hosting a major event Thursday in New York City to take the wraps off a new Lumia flagship smartphone that promises to "reinvent zoom."
The event, which will likely introduce the already-hyped Lumia 1020, will kick off at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. CNET's Brian Bennett, Sarah Tew, Roger Cheng, and I will be there to cover the news live. We will kick off the commentary about 15 minutes before the event begins.

Microsoft's decision to ditch Microsoft Points in favor of real-world currency in Xbox Live might prove to be a costly proposition for consumers.
According to reports out of the U.K., where the feature is currently in beta testing, it costs more to buy content in real-world money than it did with Microsoft Points. Time Warner Cable and Microsoft have inked a deal to bring scads of TV channels to the Xbox 360.
Later this summer, Time Warner Cable will launch its TV application on Xbox Live, bringing up to 300 live TV channels to the Xbox 360. The service will be available only to those who are current Time Warner Cable customers and who subscribe to Xbox Live Gold.
According to Microsoft, Time Warner Cable's channel offerings will include AMC, Bravo, Comedy Central, and CNN. The app will also work with voice controls through the company's Kinect sensor.

Microsoft will gather thousands of developers in San Francisco this week for its Build conference, with much of this year's event focused on generating excitement about updates to its Windows 8 operating system.
