Friday Poll: What will iTunes 10 bring?

This week, Apple dropped iTunes 9.2 on us. It includes syncing for iOS 4 and that new iPhone you may or may not have heard about. The new iPhone, of course, brings the possibility of even more new features coming soon, and those with a long memory will note that 9.2 was the final version of Mac OS before OS X (Mac OS version 10.0) landed in 2001.

Apple releases iTunes 9.2 with iOS 4 compatibility

Just in time for the release of Apple's iOS 4 mobile software is an update to iTunes.

Apple released iTunes 9.2 Wednesday with several new features, most of them to enable compatibility with the pending software update coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch on Monday.

According to Apple, iTunes 9.2 now allows:

Syncing iTunes content with iPhone 4, which officially goes on sale June 24Syncing and reading e-books (with iBooks 1.1 installed) Syncing PDF documents as books Utilizing new folders feature for organizing apps Faster syncing

As the mobile arm of the DoubleTwist media library for Mac and Windows, the DoubleTwist mobile player is tasked with syncing your music, videos, and podcasts to and from your desktop and your Android phone. The app lets you find songs by artist, album, title, or playlist. There are also shortcuts for synced videos and podcasts. How will Apple spin iTunes on iPad?

Apple posted some short Guided Tour videos about the iPad on Monday, confirming my first impression that the iPad isn't a great leap forward for music. That's understandable, since there are other gaps that the iPad is trying to fill first--I think the big draw will be iBooks and Web surfing from the couch over a Wi-Fi connection, which can be done with an iPhone today with much eyestrain.
