For me, the essence of the four days I spent at CES can be boiled down to four booths with two competing personal computing dynamics: two of those booths represent the PC's future, two do not.

Here's the quickest way to make the point. Google's Android is the future and Microsoft Windows--let me put this delicately--is the present. More specifically: Motorola-Nvidia (Android) are on one side, and Microsoft-Intel (Windows) are on the other.

LAS VEGAS--With its Best of CES Xoom tablet and an impressive selection of 4G Android smartphones, Motorola had a very good CES. LAS VEGAS--Think the PC market will be just more of the same old same old in the coming years? Maybe not. Motorola demonstrated an intriguing vision of one viable PC future at CES today.

On the surface, it's pretty straightforward. Convert your smartphone into a full-blown laptop (see graphic).

LAS VEGAS--AT&T gave us a sneak peek at the Motorola Atrix 4G this morning, but it was up to Motorola to announce the full details of the device at its CES press conference that ended a few minutes ago.

LAS VEGAS--AT&T announced at its Developer's Summit at CES this morning that it will launch its 4G LTE network by the middle of this year. Details of initial markets, pricing, and exact rollout plans are still few at this point, but the carrier says the network will be complete by 2013.

During AT&T's Developer Summit at CES 2011, Motorola and AT&T introduced the Motorola Atrix 4G with a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. In addition, it will have 16GB of onboard memory and a 1,920mAh lithium-ion battery. Specs that certainly back up its claim as "the world's most powerful smartphone."
