Rumor: T-Mobile to get HTC Snap, Touch Pro2, and more

The HTC Snap made its debut at CTIA 2009, where we learned that the U.S. will get its own unlocked version of the QWERTY smartphone, called the HTC S522, this summer. However, some blogs are reporting that T-Mobile may just get a model of its own to replace the aging T-Mobile Dash.

The Nokia E71x, the LG Neon, the Samsung Magnet--seems like messaging phones are all the rage at CTIA 2009 and now you can add another one to the list. The HTC Snap.

HTC kicked off the show Wednesday morning by introducing the Snap, its newest QWERTY device. We haven't seen one in this form factor from the smartphone manufacturer in a while (think back to the T-Mobile Dash) and given the design, it's no surprise that the handset is optimized for e-mail and messaging.

While we normally appreciate user guidance, the pop-up how-to guides got in the way of what proved to be an effective tool for capturing and manipulating images.

Webware Radar: Nielsen sees job site traffic jump

Research firm Nielsen Online announced the results of a study that found 20 percent more people visited career development sites in January than in the same month last year and unique visitors grew from 41.5 million to 49.7 million in the same span.

According to the firm, CareerBuilder was the top career development destination in January with 20.8 million unique visitors, followed by Yahoo HotJobs and Monster, which captured 11.7 million and 9.5 million unique visitors, respectively. Docstoc releases Docshots: A pop-up document viewer

Docstoc has a new service for site owners that makes Web documents more readily accessible. Called Docshots, it presents any linked document in a pop-up viewer that site visitors can read without leaving the page.

If you've ever seen the pop-up thumbnail previews from Snap.com, the idea behind Docshots is the same. You simply hover your mouse over the link and the viewer pops up. The Knot marries WedSnap

The Knot on Monday announced that it has acquired WedSnap, the developer of the popular online wedding-planning application Weddingbook.

With the merger, The Knot is marrying its site with the highest-ranking wedding application on Facebook, which last year awarded WedSnap $25,000 in seed money as part of its FBFund competition.

While The Knot remained mum on the purchase price, it touted the features Weddingbook will bring to its site.

Daily Tidbits: Glassdoor tells you where to work

On Tuesday, Glassdoor.com, an online community that offers career advice, released its first Employees' Choice Awards, which lists the top 50 "Best Places to Work." According to the report, which features data from employees at more than 11,000 companies operating in the U.S., General Mills is the best company to work for in the United States. In the tech space, Netflix and Adobe made it into the top five and Google wasn't far behind in seventh place. FanSnap scores $5.5 million funding round

FanSnap announced Monday a $5.5 million funding round, which it aims to use on completing the build-out of its search engine.

FanSnap, which launched its ticket search engine beta in September, received funding from existing investor General Catalyst Partners, which led the round.

The FanSnap site is designed to allow users to search for tickets based on a number of criteria, from price range to number of tickets sought, as a well as an at-a-glance ticket price range based on the stadium section using a colored map.
