Pantech Crux arrives at Verizon Wireless

Mere moments after Verizon announced the LG Octane, it introduced another feature phone called the Pantech Crux. The Crux is a touch-screen-only phone with a 3-inch display. However, it does come with external media control keys. Features include stereo Bluetooth, microSD support for up to 32GB (it has 1GB internal memory already), social-networking widgets, and of course a virtual QWERTY keyboard. It's also Skype mobile capable, has an HTML Web browser, and is compatible with V Cast Music with Rhapsody.

The Crux will be available starting October 28 for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new … Read more

The Pantech Jest is no joke

Get ready for a slew of jokey headlines with this one--Verizon Wireless just announced on Tuesday a new slider messaging phone called the Pantech Jest. One unintended implication of the name is that phone itself is a joke, but it actually looks like a decent QWERTY phone.

It has a 2.6-inch display, an optical sensor that works like a mouse, a 2-megapixel camera, EV-DO, GPS with VZ Navigator, V Cast Music access, stereo Bluetooth, and direct connections to social networks like Twitter and Facebook. It'll be available starting July 5 for $69.99 with a new two-year service … Read more

Pantech Ease for easier texting

Pantech just announced the Pantech Ease, a messaging handset which, according to the company, focuses on simplicity and ease of use. It has a 3.2-inch touch-screen display and a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard.

As with its entry-level Breeze, the Pantech Ease has two modes: easy and advanced. The easy mode has a simplified menu interface along with large legible font that you can increase for even larger text. Pantech isn't marketing the Ease as a senior-friendly device only; however, the company makes it clear the Ease was designed with senior citizens in mind.

The Easy Mode has a … Read more

Pantech and AT&T goes for the Pursuit

After a shadowy hands-on at CTIA where we weren't allowed to take pictures of the thing, the Pantech Pursuit will finally launch June 6. We have a review unit in our hands, and we must say, first impressions are very positive.

The Pursuit's overall design is wonderfully playful, with rounded corners, and a fun toylike appeal. The Pursuit is also what AT&T calls a touch-screen "Quick Messaging Phone," and indeed, it does come with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, is one of the best messaging keyboards we've laid our hands on. Even though the … Read more

Pantech Link now official on AT&T

We first looked at the Pantech Link at CTIA 2010, and even then we were impressed by the handset's slim yet solid design. Now the messaging-focused phone will finally be available for AT&T on April 18 for the very affordable price of $9.99 with a new two-year service agreement.

We had a chance to review the Link recently, and even though it's billed as a low-entry phone, it has quite a number of cool features for the price. It has a basic but decent 1.3-megapixel camera, GPS, 3G, a mobile HTML browser based on … Read more

Sneak peek at Pantech Link, Pantech Pursuit

LAS VEGAS--Even though AT&T announced the Pantech Link and the Pantech Pursuit prior to the start of CTIA, we managed to get a quick hands-on with both phones at the show. As we mentioned in the announcement of the two phones, they are both messaging handsets with the addition of AT&T's new cloud-based services like AT&T Address Book, AT&T Mobile Share, and the Online Locker that'll let you easily update your Facebook, Twitter, and more. Unfortunately, we were only allowed to snap pics of the Pantech Link, but we'll … Read more

AT&T unleashes new messaging phones and cloud services

AT&T sprang into action on Monday and introduced a quartet of new Quick Messaging phones as well as a set of services designed to bring smartphone-like experiences to mass-market phones.

These services will first debut on the Samsung Strive (see below) and include three tools: AT&T Address Book, AT&T Mobile Share, and next-generation messaging. The latter simply brings a reply-all feature to text messaging, enabling users to respond to up to 10 contacts at once, while AT&T Address Book allows you to sync and back up your phone's contacts to an … Read more

Pantech P9020 appears on FCC

While we were getting ready to say good bye to 2009, the FCC approved what looks like a new Pantech messaging phone. The P9020 has yet to be announced, but it appears to have a touch screen plus a QWERTY keyboard, 3G HSDPA compatible with AT&T, a music player, Bluetooth, GPS, and more.

Not much else is known about it, and it'll likely have a much different name than the generic "P9020," but it certainly looks like AT&T is keeping its messaging phone trend alive this coming year.

Pantech Impact on sale at AT&T

Pantech's kooky Impact is now available at AT&T. The phone was announced last month at the fall CTIA show.

The Impact has a unique design that's quite unlike the Pantech Reveal. On the exterior you'll see a touch keypad with vibrating feedback and a small display that lets you access a limited number of menu options. Inside is a full QWERTY keypad and a landscape display. The keyboard features plenty of shortcut options, though the keys are a tad cramped. We'll have to see whether the design works for long-term use. In our brief … Read more
