Ordnance Survey, Great Britain's governmental-mapping agency, has used its data to re-create the entire (almost) country in Minecraft. The massive 86,000-square-mile map uses 22 billion blocks to represent the continent's terrain, built using Ordnance Survey's own tools: OS Terrain 50 and OS VectorMap District. … Read more
You can get giddy when thousands of people retweet one of your clever (or even not so clever) quips.
The tweeters at (Micro)Nokia were no doubt renegotiating their compensation packages after a September 10 tweet mocking Apple's colorful iPhone 5C received more than 40,000 retweets.
They surely couldn't wait for another chance to sling rocks at the Apple Goliath.
Thankfully on Wednesday, a report emerged that Apple maps had led drivers onto a taxiway at Fairbanks International Airport in Alaska.
"What joy," thought Nokia's tweeters. "We must mock this. Anyone have any … Read more
Industrial robots are inherently bad ass. But when programmed as part of a work of art, they become magical.
With a nod to Arthur C. Clarke, San Francisco design and engineering firm Bot & Dolly understands this concept well. It spent two years working on "Box," a five-minute film that explores the nexus of man, machine, and art.
According to Apple Maps, it's 3,550 miles from my house to the Fairbanks International Airport in Alaska. It will take me 64 hours of non-stop driving to get there. Oh, and I'll need to drive down a taxiway used by airplanes to reach my destination.
According to the Alaska Dispatch, an iOS Maps app flaw has led two inattentive out-of-town drivers to unquestioningly follow their iPhones down Taxiway B over the last few weeks, despite a gate and sign meant to deter exactly that sort of behavior.… Read more

That's precisely the catalyst Naim, who recently received his degree from Stanford's Graduate School … Read more

On the 178th anniversary of Charles Darwin's historic visit to the Galapagos Islands, Google, the Charles Darwin Foundation, and the Galapagos National Park directorate have launched a 360-degree tour of the islands with images shot during a May trek there.
In addition to a tour of islands such as San Cristobal and Floreana Island above the water … Read more
In the summer of 2013, Nokia made its stock mapping app, Here Maps, available for download in the Windows Phone app store. Before that, only those with Lumia phones could get their hands on it to search for directions and navigate.
Since Here Maps is hardly the only mapping app for Windows Phone owners, I took it for a spin to see if it's worth using whether it comes with your phone or not.
