Purportedly leaked specs of Research in Motion's new BlackBerry 10 line show a new all-touch smartphone that has a higher resolution screen than the Retina Display on the iPhone 4S, according to BlackBerry news site N4BB.com.

The specs include details of both the BackBerry 10 L-series, an all-touch-screen device, and the N-series, which features the traditional physical QWERTY keyboard.

Apple and RIM secrets sold by ex-AT&T employee

A former AT&T worker is the latest corporate employee to confess involvement with insider trading, according to Reuters. Alnoor Ebrahim said he sold stock traders information that included AT&T sales numbers for Apple's iPhone and RIM's BlackBerry.

Ebrahim pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and securities fraud. RIM plans to open its first Middle East retail store in Dubai

With slumping sales in the West, Research In Motion has plans to go to the East. The BlackBerry maker is in the process of opening retail stores throughout the Middle East starting in Dubai, according to Bloomberg.

"We're getting the first one up and running and then we'll be looking at other cities across the Middle East -- Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar," Sandeep Saihgal, the managing director of RIM's Middle East business, told Bloomberg in an interview earlier this week.

Smartphones now account for half of all mobile phones

Market research firm Nielsen today announced that half of all mobile phone subscribers in the United States now own a smartphone.

According to data compiled through February 2012, smartphones have grown to account for 49.7 percent of all mobile phones, up considerably from 36 percent just one year ago. What's more, in the last three months alone, two-thirds all handsets purchased were smartphones.
