After much anticipation, we've finally gotten our greedy little hands on the Creative Zen X-Fi. While we put the player through its paces for the in-depth review, we thought you'd appreciate a closer look. One thing we can tell you right off the bat: the Zen X-Fi is an incredible value given all the features, but we're a bit disappointed that it's encased in plastic rather than metal. The slideshow has more gory details, but here are some highlights to get you started:Alluring price tag: The Zen X-Fi is priced to sell, with the 16GB … Read more
It's the latest iteration of white collar crime. And it's expensive, destructive, and a serious nuisance for victims. I'm talking about credit and debit card theft via wireless networks. Recently, a multinational group of 11 was charged with stealing more than 41 million credit and debit card numbers.
The crime plays upon the vulnerability of a retailer's wireless networks. In a technique dubbed "war-driving," criminals cruise by stores, looking for holes in the security system so they can extract all the vital credit and debit card information. Once obtained, the numbers could be reprinted … Read more
Ever wondered what the inside of your mouth looks like? For those who missed out on dental school or are just purely curious about which teeth that piece of spinach is stuck between, Chinavasion will soon be selling a wireless dental camera for consumer use.
While it's not the first dental camera Crave has highlighted, the wireless capability and a promised cheaper price is worth noting.
The Apple iPhone was the first to get it, then the Samsung Instinct, and now it's the LG Voyager's turn to get visual voice mail. Yes, as of Friday, all LG Voyager customers can get a free download to their phone that will add visual voice mail capability.
As with the other visual voice mail systems, the Voyager's version will allow customers to listen to voice mail messages in any order; plus you'll have the ability to erase and archive messages directly from the Voyager's touch-screen interface. You will also be able to access the … Read more
Verizon has finally made official its rugged newcomer, the Casio G'zOne Boulder.
The latest successor to the Type-V and Type-S phones, the Boulder is smaller and slimmer, plus it has a 1.3-megapixel camera, EV-DO Rev. A-based push-to-talk, VZ Navigator support, a microSD card slot, and a few more goodies.
If you want the Boulder without a camera, that's an option too, but you'll still have to pay the same price. The Boulder is available in both orange and black/silver, though the one sans-camera is only available in black/silver. It's currently available for $129.… Read more
D-Link claimed today to be the first company to offer green Wi-Fi home networking. While the "first" notion of the claim is debatable--I've seen routers from other vendors with an eco-friendly design--the green aspect is more than welcome.
The company said its green initiative that adds eco-friendly features to the Xtreme NT line of wireless routers could reduce the devices' power consumption by 40 percent without sacrificing performance.
These new features cut down the power usage by automatically detecting link status and network cable length then adjusting the power accordingly. The new routers also feature Wi-Fi … Read more
Soundcast Systems focuses its efforts on a very limited line of wireless audio products and it shows: the company consistently earns praise for its top-notch wireless sound quality. Competitive pricing, however, is not Soundcast's strong suit, and the OutCast is no exception.
This $700 weatherproof, wireless speaker setup is definitely not your average iPod speaker, but that's a good thing. It's innovative, extremely easy to use, and offers great sound quality. It could use some help in the looks department, though. Read the full review.
Correction, 7:30 a.m. PDT Wednesday: This report mischaracterized the iPhone 3G's influence on AT&T's second quarter. The phone's launch came after the quarter's close.
AT&T reported nearly a 5 percent increase in second-quarter revenues, as it headed into the launch of the iPhone 3G.
The telecommunications powerhouse, which is the exclusive U.S. carrier of Apple's popular smartphone, reported that iPhone 3G sales nearly doubled within the first 12 days after its July 11 launch, compared with the initial launch of the iPhone in 2007.

The backers of Wireless Home Digital Interface plan to announce they are officially banding together Wednesday. But we're still months, or even a year from true, interoperable devices that can send high-definition video between themselves.
Wireless Home Digital Interface, or WHDI, sends uncompressed, high-definition video signals over the unlicensed 5-Gigahertz band. The backers of it say its immune to obstructions like walls and can deliver a signal that covers an entire home--that means setting up a set-top box in a basement and connecting it wirelessly to a 1080p TV in an upstairs bedroom.
