Latest Black Label LG demo video leaked?

We've already seen the teaser for a new Black Label Chocolate phone from LG, but now it looks like everything's out in the open if this video is to be believed.

The rendering shows a very long mobile phone with a 4-inch touch-screen display. Its features include HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, and multitouch capabilities. This will be the fourth Black Label handset from the Korean company, and so far, it looks pretty impressive. The end of the video states that the phone will arrive in 2009, so let's wait and see if this rumor turns out to be … Read more

PS3 Slim video: Real or fake?

Recently, a shaky, grainy video of what may or may not be a PS3 Slim turned up on YouTube (Engadget says it's supposedly a "stolen" PS3 slim that made its way to a street market in the Philippines). However, it's of such poor quality that it's really hard to tell what's what and it looks pretty dubious to us (and other blogs as well).

The "console" in the video does appear to be a little bit smaller than the current PS3 and there's quick flash of the new PS3 logo that … Read more

Alleged PS3 Slim spy photos get cease-and-desist treatment

Engadget is reporting that its Japanese site received a cease-and-desist notice from a "mysterious Chinese firm" demanding that it take down images of what may--or may not be--a new, slimmer version of Sony's PS3 game console.

Engadget didn't name the firm, but if such a company really exists--and it did send out a real cease-and-desist letter--it would lend some credence to the possibility that the photos are real. Engadget, as we do, finds the whole episode amusing, because in this day and age you just don't retract leaked photos. Once the genie's out of … Read more

Sony Alpha 230, 330 and 380: dSLR leakski

Those crazy Russians. They've only gone and leaked details of three new Sony Alpha dSLR cameras: the 230, 330 and 14-megapixel 380.

Details of the new dSLRs briefly surfaced like the Red October on the Russian Sony site before disappearing again. Fortunately for us, photoclubalpha was on hand to capture and composite the various new features listed, albeit with a Google translation about as convincing as Sean Connery's Russian accent.

The A230 is a lightweight, entry-level model. The top-end A380 and middle child A330 boast flip-out screens. All three boast HDMI output to TVs, but do not appear … Read more

Photos, details leaked on expected Kindle

Here's the latest on Amazon's new, larger Kindle, which is expected to be announced Wednesday morning at Pace University in Manhattan, according to numerous sources.

Thanks to an apparently surreptitious cameraphone photographer, Engadget has posted some blurry photos of what looks to be the dry run of tomorrow's presentation. They're not all that exciting--the new Kindle just looks like a jumbo Kindle 2. This Kindle may be called the Kindle DX, according to Engadget's anonymous source. The same source says it has a 9.7-inch screen (compared to the 6-inch screen on the Kindle 2). … Read more

More ZuneHD renderings surface

Here we go again. The gadget blogosphere is abuzz Wednesday with images of what may or may not be Microsoft's next-generation portable media player, the ZuneHD.

The renderings surfaced on the Windows Mobile Power User site without attribution or the more colorful flair of the earlier images leaked to Engadget on April 10. The big debate, of course, is whether these renderings are real or not--and more importantly, whether the accompanying specs have any validity.

Based on a source from Zunited, Engadget's saying the images really are the ZuneHD, but no one's quite buying that the alleged … Read more

Studio: Good chance FBI can trace 'Wolverine' leak

FBI agents have started looking for whoever uploaded to the Web an incomplete version of the unreleased movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The film, which reportedly cost $100 million to make, was not scheduled for theatrical release until May 1 but was leaked to the Web Tuesday evening. Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Los Angeles field office, said Thursday that the agency is responsible for investigating copyright infringement and allegations of piracy.

She said the bureau received a call within the last 24 hours from 20th Century Fox, the News Corp.-owned studio that produced "… Read more

Lenovo teases 'Pocket Yoga' mini laptop

Update: Lenovo says there's no actual product behind these mockups, which were of an old concept piece and just recently published on flickr.

We've seen a handful of "leaked" photos recently of a tiny laptop prototype from Lenovo. Looking suspiciously like Sony's Vaio P series, the system has an extremely wide screen, flat edge-to-edge keys, and looks to be similar in size--about the same footprint as a standard business envelope.

Those fuzzy photos have been replaced by some beauty shots on Lenovo's Flickr stream.

The device, called the Pocket Yoga, features a tablet screen … Read more

Coleman Senate campaign in donor data leak mess

The campaign of Republican Norm Coleman, who is engaged in a fierce legal battle to keep his Senate seat from Democrat Al Franken, has warned supporters that their credit card numbers may have been exposed on the Internet.

His campaign manager, Cullen Sheehan, said the office became aware of a possible security breach of the donor database in January, however an investigation found the data had not been accessed by an unauthorized party, according to a report on Wednesday in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune.

Supporters received an e-mail from the nonprofit Wikileaks site on Tuesday night saying the Coleman … Read more
