In its latest salvo in its case against Samsung Electronics in The Netherlands, Apple is seeking a European Union ban on the importation and sales of all Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Apple's injunction, filed in The Hague district court, would affect the Galaxy Ace, Galaxy S, and Galaxy SII smartphones as well as the Galaxy Tab 7 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets, according Dutch publication Webwereld, which has reviewed the complaint (English translation).

The complaint also demands Samsung send a letter to distributors and resellers requesting that all stock be returned to Samsung "within 14 days" … Read more

Zediva, the video service that attempted to build a business by exploiting loopholes in copyright law, suffered a serious setback today when a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction against the service.

U.S. District Judge John Walter has ruled that Zediva violates copyright law and granted a preliminary injunction motion made by the Motion Picture Association of America for Zediva to be shut down. Huawei has won a court order that prevents Motorola Solutions from revealing trade secrets as the latter looks to sell its wireless equipment business to Nokia Siemens Networks.

Filing a lawsuit against Motorola late last month, the Chinese telecom equipment provider claims that Motorola could potentially share trade secrets with Nokia Siemens in the $1.2 billion deal that would transfer both Motorola technology and employees.

NEW YORK--Last summer, Lime Wire began installing a secret upgrade to its software that enabled the company to shut down the peer-to-peer network whenever it wanted, music industry sources have confirmed.

The revelation was first reported Tuesday by PC Mag. According to the Web tech publication, reporters there were tipped off by a source on Monday night.

The music industry has asked a federal court in New York to order a shutdown of the LimeWire service, according to documents obtained by CNET.

Lawyers working for the Recording Industry Association of America, the trade group for the four top record companies, filed documents on Friday requesting that a U.S. District Court in Manhattan grant them a permanent injunction against the country's largest commercial file-sharing service.
