But I like to take advantage of every second of sleep I can possibly get in the morning before going to work. The thought of pulling out a bag of whole bean coffee and a measuring spoon has thus far been enough to send me with my pocket change to the coffee shop down the street. In any case, it seems like every time I attempt freshly … Read more
I spend more time than I would like shuttling children around town to school, lessons, play dates, speech therapy, and other fun engagements. I've heard this crazy rumor that there are people who actually work outside their homes and still have to drive to a separate location every day, too. So it seems that a lot of us find ourselves on the go quite a bit. And if you need a coffee fix as badly as I do, you know that you need an on-the-go solution.

There are many options for the modern coffee drinker. Gone are the days when the choice was simply between regular or decaf. Now, we can walk into any coffee joint and be presented with a laundry list of choices. Whether you are "hammerhead" type of coffee drinker, or would rather opt for the smooth drinking cafe au lait, chances are your local caffeinated watering hole has you covered.

Up until this point, The 404 has tried to remain nonpartisan (untrue), never officially endorsing a candidate, but that rule is chucked out the window on today's show. It's a big announcement that's literally no surprise to anyone, but we make it anyway. Lots of election talk today, mostly about free corporate-sponsored junk food you can get for voting. We also talk about GPS chastity belts, marital affair enablers, and the best position to take while docking your iPod Touch. Wilson, you dirty birdy, you.
I had every intention of forcing you to listen to today's show for our official political endorsement, but screw it, I'm going to do it right here and now. The pundits at The 404 have unanimously decided that Professor Charles Xavier is the best hope we have for our nation's successful future. His not-for-profit work with our world's gifted youngsters prove his social skills, his political prowess, and ultimately his potential to be an extraordinary leader in these desperate times. It's time for a change, and we completely believe that Charles Xavier's innate telepathic powers can grab us by the coattails and pull us our of our eight-year rut. Too long has Erik "Magneto" Lensherr been allowed to employ his Brotherhood of Mutants at the political expense of our fair country. We need a juggernaut in the oval office, and Professor X is our man.The 404 is delighted to support Professor Xavier and also very pleased to see him choose Peter Nikolaievitch Rasputin as his Vice President. Peter, or "Colossus" as we've come to know him through the years, has proven his executive talent, toughness, and ability to knock through several layers of brick time and time again. The Prof X/Colossus team is an unstoppable one and we're excited to see what they can do in 2009. If you care about the welfare of this nation, please cast your vote for Charles Xavier and Colossus today. Episode 220 Download today's podcast … Read more
It's a bird, it's a plane...well, no...it's not a plane. Nor does this coffee maker resemble in any way, shape, or form Superman. However, the Nescafe Dolce Gusto certainly does look like a bird. Whether it's a hummingbird or one of those novelty drinking bird doo-dads, there is no denying the interesting design of this machine.
Weird bubble alien, or one of our more familiar avian friends, this coffee maker is all about the art of coffee...or at least the art of variety. The maker is being marketed as a system in which … Read more
My mornings are based on routine. I'm not sure if it's the repetition of familiar movements or the cold coffee waiting for me in the kitchen that drives me through those first few waking moments. Either way, after I've had my coffee, I am awake enough to figure out how to make more coffee... and then it comes to breakfast.
Breakfast is my first true decision of the day. Everything else up to this point is robotic motion practiced into familiarity. Variety is the spice of life, so after my day has been kick started, I want … Read more
If you liked the Porsche Design toaster that I wrote about a couple of days ago, then you should add their coffee machine to your wish list, too. Designed by Porsche Design, a daughter company of the ever-popular car giant Porsche, the coffee machine makes your morning cup just a little bit more aesthetically pleasing.
The coffee pot is equipped to brew up to 12 small cups of coffee (or eight larger cups, depending on the size of the boost you need), and since you can choose the strength and temperature, you can create a pot that's going to … Read more
I think I mentioned this before, but it bears repeating: I need my coffee in the morning. Immediately. Yes, I could be one of those plan-ahead people who have the automatic timer set to brew a steaming cup of deliciousness as soon as my head leaves the pillow. But I'm not. Anyway, I prefer to make my coffee on the stovetop in an espresso style maker. Since I doubt that timed automatic gas-fired stovetop burners will ever be in vogue, I will have to keep saving a cup of coffee in preparation for kick starting the next morning.
However, … Read more
My mother-in-law has been visiting for nearly seven weeks. (Why, yes, I am the world's greatest wife, thank you!) And every morning she watches me prepare my cappuccino and winces as I fill my cup with boiling water and dump it out. It makes her crazy to see me waste my 6 ounces of water, but it makes me crazier to put my lovely espresso into an unheated cup.
Although family harmony may not have been Haier's goal with the HPE20SS Espresso/Cappuccino Maker, it could work wonders in my home. The machine has a dome-covered warming and … Read more
