I'm sure all of you auto racing fans are looking forward to this weekend, as on Sunday, Nascar presents one of the most famous events in modern racing history: the Daytona 500. The action at Daytona International Speedway is already underway with the Budweiser Shootout practice that took place last week, and if you think it was an uneventful precursor to the big race at Daytona this Sunday, then you were wrong. Why? Because Nascar got a start to its 2010 season not with a bang, but with a crunch as multiple cars became entangled in a nasty bang-up … Read more
Creating further proof that the U.S. Army plans to use video games to attract gamers, the organization has announced the launch of its Race for Strength online game.
To play the game, users must print out a "palm card" from the site. After printing it out, they need to start up their Webcams and point it at themselves. As the game starts, they control the Nascar car in the game with the palm card, which they move like a steering wheel in front of their Webcam to control the action on-screen.
The goal of the game, the … Read more

Ferrari has a history for making limited edition vehicles and the history continues with the new 599XX. And this 599XX is EXTREMELY limited - reportedly only 20 or so will be available for purchase. It appears to be designed specifically for racing purposes with its F1-oriented design. And while the 599 has debuted in previous venues, here it is for your viewing pleasure straight outta the North American International Auto Show held just a month ago in Detroit. With its limited release, I'm going to make this blog limited as well and let the video here examine and explain … Read more

But what is it really like to navigate and race this Baja-ready pickup truck on the desert sand? "The Smoking Tire" put host Matt Farah up to the challenge in the nether regions of California's Borrego Springs to get a first hand look at how the 2010 Ford Raptor can be used in an off-road driving scenario--boy, does it look like fun!

Having spent time behind the steering wheels of the BMW X6 M, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the Infiniti FX50S, and the Range Rover Sport, I was fairly certain that I could predict the outcome of Autocar's drag race between the four sporty SUVs (is that a bit redundant?). And for the most part, I was right. I won't spoil the ending for you, but I can't help but to think that the outcome would be decidedly different and much more interesting if this race where held off-road! I mean, these are SUVs after all.

RaceRender Video Processor is a program that can create and edit videos. For freeware, it has a great deal of functionality, despite its plainness.
The design of this program's interface is very basic, and its layout is fairly easy to navigate. The Help manual is extensive and covers pretty much any topic you need to know. A good Help manual is much appreciated since RaceRender is a complicated program, especially for users with little video editing experience. We were able to import a video file into the program with no trouble, and we discovered a few useful features, too. … Read more
Traffic Rush is a fun, fast-paced, cartoony arcade game in which you must direct traffic at a busy four-way intersection--much like other "traffic control" games. The touch interface is easy and natural, with you swiping vehicles to speed them up or tapping them to temporarily stop them. You have to choreograph a colorful collection of trucks, motorcycles, and various passenger cars, all with different speeds (and sound effects), and the number of vehicles--and, inevitably, close calls--increases as the game progresses. Your game ends when you fail to avert a crash, and you're given your score, average vehicle … Read more
