Nokia does pink right

Pink phones, as we've noted before, can be a tricky proposition--there's a fine line between tasteful pastel and Pepto-Bismol. But this Nokia 7373 captures the right palette, though it kind of resembles an old-fashioned pencil box.

That's because it has a rotating 240 x 320 display with a rounded edge on one end, to go along with its 2-megapixel camera, MicroSD card slot and USB connectivity, as noted by TechEBlog. For men who have issues with a "Powder Pink" phone, the 7373 also comes in "Bronze Black" to go with your power drill.… Read more

Verizon gets new Nokia dance partner

Nokia's CDMA dance became a little more erratic yesterday when Verizon introduced the Nokia 2366i. The GSM-loving manufacturer had charged into the CDMA sector a year or so ago, but then pulled back earlier in 2006 when it charged Pantech with producing its CDMA handsets, such as Verizon's Nokia 6215i. Yet we hear the new 2366i is made by Nokia itself. Available exclusively through the carrier's InPulse prepaid service, the handset comes in a basic flip phone design with an external antenna. Features include a 65,000-color display, text and multimedia messaging, basic organizer functions, Bluetooth, a … Read more

Cingular-bound Nokia N75 gets FCC blessing

Back in September, Nokia revamped its N series with some souped-up models, including the 5-megapixel, camera-equipped Nokia N95 and the musically talented Nokia N75 flip phone. However, our biggest fear about these drool-worthy gadgets was that they would suffer the same fate of their predecessors and lack the backing of a U.S. carrier. I don't know about you, but I certainly don't have an extra few hundred dollars lying around to purchase an unlocked N93. But it looks like that won't be the case with the N75. Today, the FCC approved the quad-band, UMTS smart phone … Read more

Nokia joins the GPS rush hour

Nokia is the latest consumer-electronics firm to use GPS to follow the money. The Finnish cell-phone maker today announced its entrance into the red-hot car-navigation market with the unveiling of its Nokia 330 Auto Navigation system, which will rely on digital maps from US-based Navteq, rather than those from Tele Atlas found in the new Nokia N95 phone.

The Nokia 330 is expected to compete directly with higher-end GO devices from TomTom, but the list of potential rivals and devices in the GPS market, especially in Europe, is growing all the time. Last week, Dual Electronics, a company traditionally associated … Read more

Nokia's 6133 lands at T-Mobile

When it's time for Nokia to pick teams for its cell phones, it's usually good about not making any carrier feel left out. So while smaller carriers may have landed the appealing Nokia 6126, Nokia spread the love by choosing T-Mobile for the very similar Nokia 6133. The new handset is available today.

Like the 6126, the 6133 sports a sleek, flip-phone design that includes a gimmicky but cool hinge-mounted button that flips open the phone automatically. The color displays are the same as well--the internal screen supports 16 million hues--but the 6133's keypad and navigation have … Read more

Found: A good use for the Nokia Tablet

OK, I know I may be in the minority here (check out these user opinions), but I'm not a fan of the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. Yes, it's portable; yes, it lets you surf the Web. I also realize it's not meant to be a PDA or a laptop replacement, but I just keep asking myself, "Why? Why would I want this thing?"

But wait, before you pour on the hate mail, let me just say, I may be changing my tune--just maybe.

Navicore has released a solution, simply called the Nokia Navigation Kit, that … Read more
