TuneIn Radio adds police scanners, in-app donations

TuneIn Radio is adding a new form of real-time news. The latest update to the Internet radio application adds access to more than 3,000 police and fire scanners from around the country.

Version 2.2 of the TuneIn Radio app lets you listen in to local police dispatches practically anywhere in the country, including New York boroughs and California Highway Patrol.

2012 Kia Rio sedan to start at $14,150

Kia Motors revealed the prices of the 2012 Kia Rio sedan starting at $13,400 MSRP (plus in $750 destination charges). The Rio comes in three trim levels: LX, EX and SX, all powered by the same 1.6-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) that boasts 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque.

The base trim, the LX, comes with a six-speed manual transmission, or customers can upgrade to an a six-speed automatic transmission for $14,500. The top-of-the-line SX trim starts at $17,500 (plus destination charges). All three trims offer an estimated 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway.… Read more

Forget e-mail: LivingSocial takes to the airwaves

To date, daily-deal sites have relied primarily on e-mail to reach bargain hunters. Now LivingSocial has inked a deal with Clear Channel to broadcast those deals to a much larger audience.

The companies said today that LivingSocial will provide its discount offers to listeners of more than 500 Clear Channel radio stations in 90 cities around the U.S. starting October 24. All told, LivingSocial's deals will be showcased to as many as 80 million listeners each week, Clear Channel said.

Sprint iPhone on Radio Shack inventory page

It looks like Sprint will indeed be getting the iPhone 5 soon--perhaps on Tuesday.

Apparently confirming earlier rumors, a screenshot published by Engadget purportedly of a Radio Shack inventory page lists a 16GB and 32GB iPhone 5. It was suggested in early September that a Sprint iPhone 5 was in the offing when an internal carrier memo informed employees of a vacation blackout from September 30 through October 15 due to the "possibility of a major phone launch."

The screenshot also seems to confirm earlier reports from the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg, which reported that customers would have access to an unlimited data plan.
