HTC's chairperson said that the company has no intention of settling with Apple, according to Asia-based reports.

The report appeared in Wednesday's Digitimes and other Asia-based publications, which cite comments from Cher Wang, chairperson of HTC.

HTC "has great skills in innovation and has the confidence to face legal lawsuits with Apple," the Digitimes report says, attributing those comments to Wang.

She also said that the $1 billion jury verdict against Samsung in the U.S. "does not mean the failure of the entire Google Android ecosystem."

People who've received unwanted sales calls from Dish Network may yet get some satisfaction.

The company is the target of a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission alleging that it made sales calls to millions of consumers even though they had asked not to be called again.

The calls reportedly violated the FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule. According to that rule, a telemarketer cannot call someone who has asked to be taken off the company's call list, even if the person is not registered with the National Do Not Call list.

Apple has been hit by a lawsuit from an ex-employee who says he was promised a job for life.

Wayne Goodrich, a former executive producer with Apple, claims that he was a "confidant, sounding board, and close adviser" to Steve Jobs, Bloomberg reported today. As such, the late Apple co-founder allegedly told Goodrich in 2010 that he would always have a job at Apple, even if his current position were to be eliminated.

Despite that reported promise, Goodrich was fired in December for what Apple referred to as "business reasons," unrelated to his job performance.

Apple and Samsung are once again going to try to come to terms on their bitter patent lawsuit, a new report claims.

Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung chief executive Kwon Oh Hyun will hold a telephone conversation today to see if they can find a resolution to their ongoing patent dispute, Bloomberg is reporting, citing sources. The discussion comes after U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh asked the sides to meet and discuss their mutual differences.

Motorola Mobility today filed a new patent-infringement suit against Apple and seeks to block imports of many foreign-made products such as the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, and some Macs.

According to Bloomberg, Motorola, owned by Google, filed the suit in hopes that it could reach an agreement with Apple on their many existing patent disputes. In a statement to CNET, Motorola Mobility said that, "We would like to settle these patent matters, but Apple's unwillingness to work out a license leaves us little choice but to defend ourselves and our engineers' innovations."
